I'm trying to draw up a list of fundraising ideas for DS's primary school. I'd be really grateful if you could list things your PTFA do for fundraising & any tips etc. Thanks!

easyfundraising.com- site directory that gives you money for shopping through them.

Ragbag- the school now has a permanent bin for unwanted clothes/shoes etc. That has been a good money spinner, over a grand in a year.

Pamper days - invite local beauty therapists to come and give tasters for a nominal fee, charge for entrance and refreshments. Hth.

We do the usual school fairs etc, plus things like quiz night, race night etc. Every year there is a May Ball, held at a local hotel, which is always very successful. We also run a school sponsored event most years which raises loads of money for very little effort (sponsored walk, relay race, mini olympics etc). Also have regular non-uniform days to raise money.

Alwaysbe, how does the ragbag work?

Ohhh Pamper days sounds like a brilliant idea - think that would go down well

Sponsored event good be interesting - thanks

Last sponsored event we raised about £2000 for very little effort at all. Compared to raising about the same from the Christmas Fair, which was quite a lot of work...

wow - that's brilliant. So basically every does something sponsored on the same day? How does it work?

Last time we did a sponsored walk. Everyone in the school did it on the same day, but different years at different times. So foundation did theirs first, then years 1 and 2, then years 3 and 4, then 5 and 6. They just did a short route from the school, via a couple of footpaths and back, but did the route several times.

Sponsor forms were sent home for each child a couple of weeks before the event, and they could bring the money in any time after the event. I think my ds had about 12 sponsors who gave varying amounts from about £10 (family) to £1. The other good thing about a sponsored event is that any taxpayers who sponsor a child can tick the Gift Aid box, so the school can claim the tax back.

That's a great idea! Thanks for all that info
