Verrucas and residential trip

Has anyone had their child go on a school residential trip with verrucas? What sort of precautions do they need to take? I'm thinking of maybe flipflops in the shower as DD wouldn't be able to wash foot properly if she were wearing a protective sock. Or maybe send her with a box of plasters? But I can see plasters coming off too easily. She didn't tell me that she has them so there is no time for any treatment now. Any ideas?

I have assumed that I need to put it on the medical form as it asks about foot infections, although I suppose they might be more interested in something fungal instead.

Verruca treatment needs to be done for weeks, if not months. It could be worth starting it anyway.

Flip flops would be ok and get a verruca sock if they're going to be swimming.

Thanks Sidge. DD had them before, a few years ago and they did clear up on their own eventually. I didn't even know that she had any more until yesterday, and she doesn't want me to put it on the form.

Can you still get that stuff in a tube that you cover the verucca with (Bazuka??)

I asked my GP about them recently (wanting to know what the current advice was re: swimming) and he said to go ahead and ignore them! They'll go away when they're ready. That's the second GP who's told me that.

Yep clam that is the same advice that I have had from our local GPs.

If you do feel the need to treat we were recommended to tape the foot with Duct tape silver / black preferably. Apparently it reduces the light to the verruca and results in it disappearing although over a period of weeks/months rather than days.

Other than that they disappear of their own accord but could take up to 18 months.
