How many kids per class, how many classes per year?

I'm curious as to how many children there are in your child's class, and how many classes there are per year. I went to a primary school that had 3 classes per year, with approx 22 kids per class but my niece's school has 1 class per year with 30 kids in it.

Two classes per year, with a maximum of 30 children in each class. DD's class started off with the full 30, but there are now only 28 as two children moved out of the area.

Reception & year 1 together - 26 children
Year 2 & 3 together - 29 children
Year 4,5 and 6 together - 28 children

Quite a small school really.

DD's school has small classes. there ae 15 girls in DD's Y4 class. There are approx 90 girls in the school (over 7 years).

I work in an infant school. There are 30 children in each class, 3 classes per year - so 270 children in the school.

90 child intake in 3 forms per year is the standard in our London LEA at primary level. The secondaries are much bigger intake AFAIK.

1 class per year and max of 30 children per class averaging at 28

abittoofat · 07/12/2010 23:24

Class 1 - reception = 20 max
class 2 - yr 1+2 = 28
class 3 - yr 2+3 = 27
class 4 - yr 4+5 = 28
class 5 - yr 5+6 = 25 (was 19 one yr!!!)

It seems that kids drop out to go private around yr 3 - 5. Our local comp is scary!

2 form reception entry, so 2 x 24 in each class until year 2 then they split into 3 classes per year.
