state schools in surrey advice

we are looking to move out of london to surrey and need advice on good state schools in the county. commutable to london is a must. help please....

Whereabouts in Surrey? how long for commute? London Waterloo or London Bridge?
Budget?

I'm in Weybridge and there are a couple of great state schools here (infants and middle).

ideally commute an hour door to door and waterloo would be great. husband works in west london and i work in the city. so waterloo would be a good interbetween for both of us. Weybridge..thanks....will look into it

Oatlands (infants) and Cleves (middle) are great schools with outstanding Ofsteds. Teeny catchments areas though.
The other schools in the area are St Charles (outstanding Catholic) and Mamby Lodge and St James - both with good rankings.

The area is lovely! (albeit insanely expensive)
About a 30min train trip to Waterloo.

Do think about secondary, as there are loads of good primaries, but unless you are going to pay for secondary your location ould be crucial to get into a good one. Good luck!

thanks! where we are the primaries and secondaries are pretty poor, hence moving out and my parents are on the borders of london /surrey. so being near to them would help also. will look secondaries also. in your experience, are secondary catchment areas greater?

Epsom is good for links - Victoria, London Bridge and Waterloo.

The primary schools are also not bad - but then catchment area is a big issue.

East/West Horsley - train into Waterloo. Raleigh primary and Howeard of Effingham state secondary. However, very expensive housing.

Farnham much cheaper but a much longer commute definitely not an hour.

Surbiton?

Guildford very good schools - Pewley Down, George Abbot, The County....
