Salary Sacrifice vouchers - private school

Just a quick question - for fee paying prep schools reception year, can you still use your nursery vouchers (the salary sacrifice ones) towards the payment until the child is five? I.e both my DH and I sacrifice £243 each out of our salaries per month currently to pay towards nursery fees.

TIA

Legally yes, but not all schools accept them!

Depends if they are Ofsted registered.

At the discretion of head/bursar. We can use them after the age of 5pm for care/activities out side core school hours so breakfast club, after school activities etc.

Sorry age of 5.

CMOTdibbler · 17/11/2010 13:35

DS's school can only accept them for holiday club - they told me that hmrc tell them that they can only be used for childcare, not education

DDs school same as Lizcat's - we can use them for holiday club and after school stuff but only introduced this year.

MollieO · 17/11/2010 13:48

Ds's school take them for reception, before/after school care, extra lessons, holiday club.

DD's school take them from reception until the term after they are 5. My DD is a january birthday so we'll pay fees this way until March.

School hadn't used our salary sacrifice company before but were willing to accomodate (it is guaranteed money for them)

After that the vouchers can be used for aftercare/holiday care.

Also private reception age children still qualify for the govt early years grant (15 hours a week) until the term after they are 5. Saves me £100 a month on the fees.

Thanks dixiechick. Didn't realise they still qualified for the 15 hours free. Will check that out. My DD will have turned 4 in the August abs starting reception in the September, so it would be very handy to have a whole year of 15 hours free and the use of the vouchers.

Thanks for all your replies.
