2 things that DD's school have annoyed me about this week.

I just want to rant really.

Firstly the person who comes in once a week to teach them drug and alcohol refusal has this week recommended that they watch Eastenders. This is Yr5, yes I've heard that there's currently an anti-drugs theme going on with Phil Mitchell being a coke head wreck but I don't think its a very suitable programme for 9 year olds. DD keeps on telling me that the teacher has told her she should watch it. Over my dead body.

Secondly loads of kids have veruccas and on the weekly swimming trip don't wear socks and DD says that they're not even using that bazooka stuff. DD has one verucca and I've got her verucca socks. She's worried about catching more so I suggested that she wear both socks and then she shouldn't catch any more. One girl who was wearing verucca socks slipped last week so DD got told today not to wear them. FFS how many thousands of kids wear verucca socks and don't slip over. So now DD is at risk of catching more veruccas.

And breath.

The first one would really annoy me, but the pharmacist told my DH that verruca socks are recommended any more. I'd rather my children had verrucas than cracked heads (from the slipping), to be honest.

Here you go, though doesn't explain why

That link made me laugh. How can there be no evidence that wearing socks reduces the chance of you catching them? If your bare foot doesn't touch the floor then you can't catch them.

I always had to wear them as a kid and never fell over. They're all bobbly on the bottom to get grip.

DD is in agony with her one verucca, crying about it most nights as it hurts so much. I'm dreading her getting any more. I'm threatning her with the chiropodist at the moment but she gets hysterical at the thought of it.

I am with you and Goblinchild for the first ne, would wind me up no end.

Current advice for the second is to wear a waterproof plaster if you have one or flip flops to avoid catching them.

Well, tell the teacher that you'd prefer her to wear them as she has such a severe problem, and say you've explained carefully to her that she's to walk carefully on the poolside, as they all should.

Ignore the EastEnders instruction and tell your daughter that you prefer her not to watch it. I don't suppose the teacher would say it was compulsory.
