Wasn't sure where to put this but figured you'd all have kids roughly the right age.
Has occurred to me that my 7yr old will start asking questions soon and as a voracious reader I know she'd appreciate a book or two ont he subject.

TIA

Blimey you've done well to get to 7yrs. DD1 asked at 3yr and now at 4yrs we've had the talk.
There's the Babette Cole book, Mummy laid and egg. There's also an Usborne 'Lift the Flaps' book. There's lots actually-I'll have a think though i'm sure lots of others will be on to recommend before then.

Mummy Laid an Egg.

I've heard that Claire Rayner wrote an excellent book on this topic. I would Google it on Amazon. Years old but very funny and frank and aimed at young children.

We have "where willy went" by Nicholas Allan. Found a copy in our library, then bought one.

We got DS Mummy Laid and egg when DS started asking questions at age 6. The book is loads of fun.

Be warned though, some people I know who have seen the book were horrified pmsl !!! I never lied to mine and they know I have periods etc, again some people are horrified that my kids know about this.

Hope you enjoy the book.

It's called The Body Book by Claire Rayner.

Watching with interest. THis is looming abd apparently DS Yr1 is about to be taught some stuff at school. WOuld like to pre-empt it a bit... I think ...

We've had Mummy laid an egg sitting innocently with all the other pictures books - kids refer to it occassionally. It's funny but very informative. We've always been very open with our kids and although they can be painfully silly at times - how babies are made is something they've been aware of from an early age and they see it as a normal part of life.

Thanks all, think I'll try and track down The Body Book, sounds more scientific and all-encompassing.
Don't know why it's never come up really, I have explained that ladies leak goo when they're old enough to have babies and need mini-nappiesGrin and that it takes a little bit of daddy and a whole lot of mummy.

Leaking goo and wearing mini-nappies? Please say that's a joke.
