Reading books

My DS started reception in septemeber and is also a september baby.

Every week they are now told to choose reading books every week and read them at there lesuire at the moment, just change them as and when no pressure sort of thing.

The promlem is that there is a book full of the books that they have to choose from in the class room and they all seem to easy for my DS.

Now i have never been a pushy parent, but DS have always loved reading ever since he learnt in the summer before starting school, he reads to me every night aswell as reading his books from school some afternoons.

Now i dont want to seem boastfull or pushy to the teacher so i dont know weather to mention that the books that are out out for the children seem way to easy for him ( 3 or 4 words per page)

What would you do? Should i say somehthing or just stay quiet and let him carry on with the books he's on. Trouble is it litrally takes him seconds to read them.

Asked my auntie the other day and she said its best to leave it,he wont regress so just let him have fun reading the books they are given at the moment.

WWYD?

Just leave it. He's only 6 weeks into his school career.

His teacher will pick up on it soon enough - or not. It doesn't matter either way. He's still going to read whatever he wants at home, isn't he.

agree with indigo - it isn't going to hold him back. My dd didn't get half-way appropriate reading books until well into the second term of reception, but it didn't do her any harm. She continued to read lots at home and by the end of reception, the teacher had moved her on to free readers. It really is early days yet!

Ok thats what i thought, but just wanted to make sure that he shouldnt be more challenged.

But as you say he does read other books at home from out local library as we go every week.
