Will 2nd hand school uniform cause teasing?

My DS starts school in January, just bought him second hand uniform that looks fine if a bit washed out, but it has last year's logo on the jumper, not this year's. I can't believe that five year olds will really care what he's wearing but would feel awful if gets teased for having old logo on.... am i just being oversensitive?

Within a week or too they all look secondhand! I would be amazed if any 4/5 year olds noticed/gave a shit.

I don't think so tbh.

I bought Ds's school jumpers 2nd hand (although they all had same logo iyswim)

I even bought some non logo ed jumpers as they were cheaper and he did not seem to mind and no one said a thing (to him or me iyswim Grin)

MumInBeds · 16/10/2010 22:52

Many of them will have uniforms from older siblings, no-one will bat an eyelid.

TheNextMrsDracula · 16/10/2010 22:53

I bet there will be loads of kids with big brother's/sister's hand-me-downs also wearing the old logo.

Don't worry.

LynetteScavo · 16/10/2010 22:53

Hell, no! Nobody will be able to tell!

My kids wreck their stuff within about 3 days anyway.

5 year olds really couldn't care less about stuff like this.

Thanks for confirming, I thought it would be OK, and yes exactly they'll all be tatty by the end of the first week.

No. They won't notice let alone care.

Octavia09 · 17/10/2010 09:33

I have not bought anything with logo. The tops are from the supermarket and much cheaper and better quality (100% cotton) than those with the school logo. My DS is completely fine with it and I see other kids do not mind wearing non-logo tops. I have seen the lost property boxes at our school. They are full of the expensive fleece tops with logos. Most of them are in big sizes so looks like older kids still forget about their things. I think we will stick to non-logo ones but will buy him something with logo for summer term or in the year 1.

TrinityRhino · 17/10/2010 09:35

I dont think it will be noticed at all

my three never have any logos and all wear hand me downs, I get given stuff aswell so rarely have to buy more than a couple of jumpers or a few pinafores

Goblinchild · 17/10/2010 09:36

We have a lot of children who just have the surname in the item, and it's passed down until it is worn out.
Luvverly MC area btw. Grin

I'm a bit [hmmm] that the school logo changes from year to year. Bit football strip isn't it?

Callisto · 17/10/2010 09:38

Agree its naughty they change the logo each year

5 year old don't care or notice. They do come Y3......

luciemule · 17/10/2010 20:24

bit naughty of school if they change their logo every year.

Our school has half termly 2nd hand uniform sales and all the parents are really eager to get some bargains. Fleeces and school cardis and jumpers always go really quickly.

spanieleyes · 17/10/2010 20:36

I find jumpers and fleeces with names of children in that left before I arrived ( and I've taught there for nearly 7 years!) Some of them are on their third or fourth family by now. I am quite adept at thinking through who they might belong to now, Hmm Fred Smith, he left 7 years ago, his mum was friends with Joe Bloggs, but he left and doesn't have any siblings left at school, however he lives next to Pete Jones and it might be his!

LynetteScavo · 19/10/2010 12:17

spanieleyes, I'm guilty of that. I presume every will know DS2 is DS1's younger brother, and therefore don't always change name tapes. Blush
