Does anyone how knowledge of Stockport Grammar Junior, Cheadle Hulme School Junior or Ladybarn House schools

We are about to attend open days for these three schools. I know Ladybarn is a prep and the other two go up to 18 but wondered if there was any main differences.
Can anyone tell me about their local reputations. Are they all equally difficult to get into? Is one clearly better that the other two? Would the parents be similar at all three? Are they all as academic as each other? How do their facilities compare?

Sorry for all the questions and thank you for reading.

Ladyblablah,
Sorry you had such a bad experience. I grew up on an estate that is so notorious that if I mentioned its name you'd know it immediately. There is no snobbery in this house and school really will be the only extravagance they receive.

Intersting what you say about the Bramhall schools offering the academics. I actually agree with this but I'm not paying for higher academic standards but for the whole school experience. Oh and my catchment primary is on the northern edge of Bramhall and is the one nobody seems to want yet I thought it was lovely.

Off to do my phonecalls where I plead to come back on yet another school day. Smile

Pink - if SGS let you go back in today, will you tell Baby Doodlez that I've put her hockey socks in her desk and she won't get a kit mark - promise! Grin

Grin Does she wear an ID tag?

Unfortunately, I'm not allowed back until later in the week! Although this is midly stressful I'm finding it quite exciting too. I loved going in to see the schools.

I suggested to DH we make appointments at other schools just so we can have a nice morning and a look around. He looked at me like he looks at DD1 when she tells him she wants chocolate for lunch. ie Like I'm being ridiculous and it's his job to steer me away from such childish notions. Grin

Just another thing, LBHS head teacher is changing.

And, you know how you said about there being tons more girls then boys? When my DBrother was there it was about 40 boys to 20 girls, but I've had a lightbulb moment as to why that's changed!

MGS Junior section has poached lots of them. I know that's probably not that exciting, but it made me happy I'd worked it out Grin

Doodlez · 08/11/2010 22:50

No ID tag but she probably ought to - she's a bit of a dozy mare.Grin Turns out she didn't need the damn socks an' all! Hockey called off due to bad weather [grr]

Yes yes - MGS Junior school, scatter - think you make a good point there - I think they're taking them from yr 3 now as well????

noteventhebestdrummer · 09/11/2010 17:47

The boy/girl ratio at LBHS will change again (for the better) from next year when MGS takes Y3/4 for the first time.

And yes, there will be a new Head at LBHS from Sept 2011, always good to have a change! Probably :)

ScatterChasse · 09/11/2010 19:49

But surely there'll be even more girls to boys then?

pinkjello · 09/11/2010 22:08

Scatterchasse, I think I must have confused you. Grin
I found there to be more boys than girls so obviously the same as when your brother was there. So, yes, I agree that the earlier MGS poach them the more balance there will be.

Yes, that would make more sense Grin

Must read properly in future!

Hi Mums! Does anyone have any knowledge about Greenbank School in Cheadle Hulme? I'm considering sending my sons there for nursery and reception respectively. I'm getting a tour of the school next week but would love to get your perspectives. I've never heard Greenbank being discussed like Lady Barn School and Moor Allerton. Thanks in advance for your all your feedback.

noteventhebestdrummer · 08/12/2010 06:49

did you decide, pinkjello?

MrsBoat - Greenbank seems lovely!

Ohnoimlate · 08/12/2010 17:43

Yes, would be really interesting to see what you have decided?

Hello

Fully recognise that this thread is 7 years old, but we are now at exactly the point that pinkjello was at 7 years ago.

If anyone who was considering LBHS / SGS / CHS 7 years ago has since sent their children there, any feedback?

If anyone else is mulling this over, any thoughts?

Have been round SGS and LBHS but not CHS (yet). Very impressed with both SGS and LBHS, but that doesn't make the choice any easier!
