DD is due to start reception in January. I took her today to try on the school logo sweatshirts that are part of the uniform which are only available from one shop.

The sizes of the unisex sweatshirts were 3-4, 5-6 or 7-8. She wears a 4-5 or 5-6 in her regular clothes because she is 110cm tall and admittedly chunky (she is 95th centile for height and weight). The size 5-6 went on and wasn't tight, but didn't really have growing room. She also couldn't get it easily off her head which I thought might be a problem for PE so I thought fine just go up a size, but the next size is 7-8 and it was huge! Hanging off the arms, the neck, it looked stupid.

I asked about the sizes and was told that sorry that was all they came in. The school also has a fleece, so I put a 5-6 fleece on her, it was big on her! I could just buy her fleeces, but will they be too warm for inside in school? Do I have any other options?

Does she have to have the school logo sweatshirts? Can she not just have a plain one from cheap supermarket? Or do the school sell sew on patches with the logo, as mine does, which you can sew to your own jumper or sweatshirt as you see fit?

Or can you buy second hand ones in the 5-6, so that if she grows out of them quickly it won't have cost you so much?

Does she have to wear sweatshirts/fleeces with the school logo on? I buy DD's navy blue cardigans from Asda and M & S. There is a school sweatshirt with a logo on, but DD much prefers to wearing cardigans because they are easy to remove and put on.

The list on the school website says logo from this patrticular shop. Given a choice I would go for a cardigan too, but I live very near to the school and I never see any children in anything other than logo sweatshirts TBH. I will double check with the school as I'm sure I can't be the only one with this problem.

You could in my opinion stitch a patch from a "proper" jumper onto a plain one from Asda.

Cut it off with a little tiny bit of fabric lleft over and sew it on...or ask someone else to!

Hmm, yes I suppose I could stitch a patch on.
