Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School RPPS

Is it just me or is the craven money grabbing attitude of schools like Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School RPPS sickening. In the midst of massive expansion funded by existing parents benefiting an absentee owner. The library converted into a classroom, massive fees rises, playgrounds converted into builder?s tea rooms etc. Parents too scared to stand up for their rights. I would love to hear of a middle class revolt where parents have actually stood up for themselves.

well, no-one's forcing your child to go there Hmm

but it's one reason why I'd avoid schools which are run as a business - profit has to come first, needs of the children second ...

I don't get the problem. Can you explain? Ravenscourt are expanding their facilities to benefitbpupils. And they are adding an extra class to benefit the hundreds of local kids who want to go there but can't get in.

It?s an issue of being sold a lemon. You sign on for a small school, it becomes huge (from 1 to 3 class entry) ? no consultation, you are sold caring environment, within a child?s life their staff turnover is so high that there is only one teacher still in the school who knew him from the beginning. It seems to me that unlike many other places RPPS (Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School)is a place which doesn?t quite know what it wants to be, at the moment it sells itself as one thing while gearing up to be something quite different.
To say you can go somewhere else is disingenuous, (though lots of brave souls are), there are loads of empty places higher up the school. Despite the huge barriers the place puts up, no preparation for 7 or 8 plus etc.

Food for thought as I've been thinking if sending DC1 there. Interesting abt the staff turnover.

Moral is beware of schools that are not educational trusts. Businesses have to make money, so fees substantially rise unexpectedly and other problems can arise. Ravenscourt Park prep fees were very reasonable but went very high as soon as they opened their new school in Kew. Perhaps to help fund it? There was a similar fees hike when Falcons boys prep was bought out but still a good school.
