err, YES and my first ever Biscuit

hmc · 29/09/2010 00:19

I really don't know. However I make sure they move a great deal out of school, so basically it is immaterial

magicmummy1 · 29/09/2010 00:32

[Hmm]

cory · 29/09/2010 07:20

I hope ds doesn't move too much at school, knowing what a fidget he is at home Blush.

Wordsonascreen · 29/09/2010 07:34

ds has a pedometer attached to his waistband
I find it really helpfull to harangue the teachers if he isn't reaching his step target (you can link it to his ds so it does minite by minite graphs and print them out to show everyone)

I recommend you purchase one I find it a highly effective resourse.

Gosh, call me sceptical but, two posts extolling the virtues of moving or questioning weight at school............

Not much moving about in lessons but I know DD gallops about to and from school and around the playground (She rides her "school unicorn.").

Goblinchild · 29/09/2010 07:42

I feel an after school club promotion comimg on. Grin
2 hours of PE a week?
I'd make all KS2 children living under 3 miles from school jog the route with their parents.

brimfull · 29/09/2010 07:49

funnily enough ds's whole school were given pedometers yesterday
he says there is a nationwide competition to see which class can do the most steps
actually he said worldwide

you know I think he does,
we walk to school,
he is the class room for an hour and a half
theygo out to play for 15 minutes
they have and hour and a quarter in the class room
then they have from 12-1.15 play time
they have an hour in the class room
then 15 minutes play time outside
then 45 minutes class room time.

I think this is absolutely fine as I know he runs like a loon when he is allowed.

Dammit !
I was going to stockpile pedometers and take over the world flog them at a great profit ...

Curses.

overmydeadbody · 29/09/2010 08:00

the best thing would be to link up the pedometer to the DS and then feed it live to your work computer via an open network so you can monitor the little darling's movement levels from your desk, live!!

overmydeadbody · 29/09/2010 08:02

What Greyskull said is pretty much standard for all primary schools. They move enough.

hocuspontas · 29/09/2010 08:04

There's also daily aerobics in some schools and PE obviously. So yes, we don't need anything you are marketing!

ShadeofViolet · 29/09/2010 08:06

Yep - my DS never stops moving - I am sure he has ants in his pants.

HTH.

Wordsonascreen · 29/09/2010 08:47

omdm they'd need to be a web cam facility as well, lil Tarquers has taken to detaching it and shaking his pedometer vigorously in order to TRICK ME.

[dramatic wail]

Does anyone know what product homefitness was promoting before her post on the other thread was deleted?

Does your Child Move enough at SCHOOL????

Yes.

They walk to and from school (half a mile each way) and if its dry often spend half an hour in the park on the way home running around and playing football.

The younger two are still in the Foundation Phase so it is all Learning through Play which is very active.

All three do two sessions of PE a week, including swimming once a fortnight.

All three do after school football and sports clubs. The eldest also does hockey.

The eldest two spend every break time playing football (their school shoes bear the scuffs to prove it).

So I think TBH whatever you are trying to sell will be wasted on us! Grin

cory · 29/09/2010 09:23

AN exercise video? You mean one of those things that keep children indoors instead of kicking a football in the park or going for walks? No thank you.
