Need to fundraise at our school for new equipment for an extension we're having. All ideas welcome please. Got a PTA meeting in October and so would like to have a few ideas at the ready!

What does the PTA do already? In my experience nearly-new sales can be well received, as can coffee/tea & cakes (with the usual raffle of donated gifts etc), 'gold club' prize draw schemes provide a regular income, Quiz nights can be good fun - so much really depends on how many enthusiastic parent helpers you can get and how keen the HT/staff is to help.

Quick, easy & quite cheap was sweetie cups

Kids took home a paper cup and filled it with sweets, then either sell the cups for 20p or do a tombolla (with very high chances of winning) at 10p a ticket
The kids loved it, and I didnt mind cos it was so easy.

Love the idea of breakfast with Santa

Sell ice creams on a Friday in the summer term - ££££££!

Bag 2 school (or other companies who do the same thing).

Christmas fayre

Summer fayre

Plant sale (we use CD Bell)

Some football/rugby clubs run a scheme where the school can purchase discounted tickets for matches and sell them to parents/carers and the school gets a cut.

Quiz Night

Employee matching scheme - some companies will donate an amount to match what an employee takes on a stall at an event. Have netted a couple of hundred quid.

We held an auction last year to raise money for the school. We contacted lots of local businesses etc for lots, plus managed to get a few "big" lots eg signed rugby shirts. We raised about £3000.

We do a sponsored walk every year which raises at least £1000, the most raised was £2200 one year.

We also organised a "Ladies Night" with strippers and a drag act, it wasn't my cup of tea but it raised £1500.

Jumble sale always got us around £1000, used to do it twice a year - would also sell the books and bric a brac at the summer and Xmas fairs.

Adult themed evenings made a lot of money - needs someone really creative and dynamic to put them together but parent and teacher musicians, 'Come Dancing', bingo, quiz night, and fashion show (company comes in, uses parents and teachers as models to sell off outlet/surplus stock at good prices) have all done well over the years.

The big money is in corporate sponsorship but there are minefields!

good luck
