Key Stage One SATS results

My daughter has just started Year 3. She did her Key Stage One Sats in Year 2. We haven't had the Sats 'results' from the school and they don't seem keen to give them! Does anyone know if this is correct?

No schools should inform parent of the results

Feenie · 22/09/2010 17:53

You should have received a teacher assessment though - it would have been drawn from lots of evidence, a very small part of which would be the tests.

We have the printed results for our twins Key Stage One Teachers Assessments. We received them the week before they finished Year 2.

We are told our child's level at the end of the summer term as part of their school report.
Schools should not inform parents of the results of the whole cohort, ie percentages of how many children got a Level 2, but they are quite within their rights to inform you of your own child's level

Blametheparents "Schools should not inform parents of the results of the whole cohort, ie percentages of how many children got a Level 2".

Yes, they should - it is a statutory requirement at the end of KS1 and KS2.

Sorry I'm falling into the bad habit of calling end of key stage levels SATs

Feenie · 22/09/2010 18:26

ARA Key Stage 1:

What must be reported to parents, carers or guardians?

For children at the end of key stage 1:

-teacher assessment levels as described in section 8.1.

  • comparative information about the national curriculum levels of attainment of children
of the same age in the school

-comparative information about the national curriculum levels of attainment of
children of the same age nationally

Omg, mrz, I am telling markuss! Grin

mrz · 22/09/2010 18:32

Oh no! the eternal shame Blush

Feenie · 22/09/2010 18:39

I saw a comment recently on the bottom of a Daily Mail 'SATs' article from someone who could only have been him, complaining about the same old thing, using the same reasons - it was so obvious, and under his real name. He really should be more careful, it couldn't have been anyone else!

Sorry for hijack Blush

Did you not receive any info at all, op?

mrz · 22/09/2010 18:42

There can't be more than one person with that particular bee in their bonnet can there? Grin

lovecheese · 22/09/2010 18:42

PSSST! who's markuss?

mrz · 22/09/2010 18:45

Someone who hates people calling the National Curriculum tests SATs and goes to great lengths to educate us

lovecheese · 22/09/2010 18:46

He needs to get out more...

Feenie · 22/09/2010 18:47

A poster on another board whose bugbear is people referring to tests as SATS (technically he is right, though). He pops up on every single thread to point it out, it's quite funny. He's been doing it so long that it's almost endearing. Grin

icandoit · 22/09/2010 22:07

Thanks for this everyone. It is an independent school and I guess the rules are the same for them?

No, they can pretty much do what they like! They don't have to report the same assessment levels, or give any of the same information as us mere mortals. Wink

icandoit · 24/09/2010 12:02

Thanks for this. I will give them a ring later and ask what their 'policy' on reporting levels, teacher assessment etc is. Should be interesting!
