What was this all about?

Not worried or anything - just curious! Grin

DD (year 1) said that all of the children had to go into a separate room with the teacher today to answer some questions - was she happy at school, did she enjoy playtime, who was her best friend in the class etc.

Is this something that all schools (have to?) do, or is this just her new teacher trying to check whether they're all OK and happy?

I would ask myself...probably as you suspect..but cant hurt to ask can it?

Sounds like some kind of pupil questionnaire / PHSE thing - confidential therefore done 1:1 with the teacher as y1 pupils wouldn't be able to read the questions to themselves.

We have something similar at our school - it doesn't include who is your best friend, but other questions to inform the school improvement plan. For example a couple of years ago lots of pupils said that they didn't like maths, so the maths co-ordinator did some pupil interviews to find out why and it helped identify how to engage them.

Nothing sinister! Smile

Thanks for the responses - hadn't really thought about the fact that some of the year 1 children might not have been able to read the questions or write their responses, but you're almost certainly right that this was just a questionnaire of some sort.

Didn't really want to ask as I'm not worried about it, and wouldn't want to waste the teacher's time! :)
