My Dt's are in P6 so although the tests are not until next year I think this year is quite rough too. Homework has increased quite a bit

Hope someone comes along with a P7 DC for you to chat to. Could be back for advice later in the year!

Not a DC but a nephew - amd my sister and BIL will be beyond delighted when it's over too. My nephew's doing two practice tests a week and getting wildly fluctuating results, which is a little worrying. Whereabouts in NI are you, Tennis?

Hi. I am new to blogging so please excuse any blogging etiquette. My DS is sitting the AQE this year. He is doing two practice papers a week and seems to be doing well. I am a little concerned as the school he is at underperformed last year when compared with previous 11 plus years. I followed last years AQE process quite closely as the daughter of a good friend was doing it (also at the same school). She also did well in the practice paper so we were all shocked when she achieved a score much lower than expected. Thankfully she did manage to get a grammar school place but the wait from February to May was nail biting. I will be glad when this is all over.

I am in Co Down, and my DS is also doing 2 tests a week, plus loads of extra homework and revision. The school he is at is very supportive, but we have no idea really how the scoring works.
My DS really wants to try for either MCB or Inst, so he understands that there is no choice but to knuckle down and get on with it.

My dd is taking the AQE and the GL this year and I've never been as stressed in my life!!
Seh is doing 2 tests at school a week too and lots of revision/homework as well as the bit of work we do at home together. SHe is doing ok but it's so up and down in the practise tests, really up and down. One minute I think she'd on track for an A, the next test she's getting a D Grin.

It's hard getting them to know everything they need to know because it's so much.
I'll be so glad when it's all over, although I'm not looking forward to the wait fo rthe results!
Keep posting about how you're getting on.

VeryStessed - that's exactly what my sister says about my nephew, a huge variation in his results from one test to the next. I guess the more practice tests they do, the more experienced they become and it's as much about test technique as it is about testing knowledge. I feel so sorry for them all though. It's a huge amount of pressure - I did the 11+ years and years ago, and I do remember doing lots of practice papers at school, but strangely enough don't remember feeling under huge pressure about it. Good luck to everyone in this situation - at least an end is in sight!

Hope you all got the results you expected or needed.
My DS got a good score, so we now more hopeful that we will get our first choice school next year.

Great news for your son, Tennis. My nephew got 111, which may or may not be enough for him to get into the grammar in the town in one direction, but should be enough for the grammar in the town in the other direction! So confusing - and yet another long wait to hear about schools.
