Good primary schools state/private in Surrey

Hi

We've been considering moving out of SW London into the Elmbridge area of Surrey (Weybridge, Walton-on-Thames, Esher, Claygate, Cobham, Oxshott).

While we can find a decent selection of detached 4/5 bed houses to buy, we've become a bit concerned about schools. Our child is still less than 1 year old but we'd plan to stay for up to 10 years in the area.

Are there any top primary or prep schools in these areas (state or private)? Clearly there are some good ones but what about excellent?

Thanks

If you are thinking about boys schools (co-ed / single sex) have a look at Shrewsbury House and Lodge, very good local reputation and in Surbiton near to a 15 min commute into town. Sends boys to KCS, KGS, St Pauls, Hampton and RGS Guildford.

We've heard great things about Notre Dame for girls and their results are improving at the senior school level. Rowan sends a lot of girls to LEH (usually high up on the league tables)

The Catholic schools are v. tough, all siblings and v. local.

I would second epsom as well - this sort of thing?

There are plenty of private options - Downsend, St Christophers even as far as Homefield maybe and theres lots of secondary options too.

really recommend Ashley C of e primary in Walton. having 2 million quid rebuild and Outstanding Ofsted. My boys go there and it is fab. Heavily oversubscribed tho.

Hi I'm seriously considering moving to Cobham and have spent lots of time looking at schools plus those in Weybridge. We would like to have a couple of good state primary schools available to us then we will be looking at private secondary schools. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the private schools but I can only find one state primary (st. Andrews) which doesn't have great reviews. Does anybody know what other options you have? The royal Kent has great reviews but I'm not sure if Cobham is in their catchment area... I'd really appreciate some advice pls.

Esher church has a good reputation but not many get into tiffin from there compared with claygate primary which is a good school but the head has let the academic side slip to average.

Maybe more from esher church go private.

Hinchley wood has a good reputation for primary and seconday if you dont get into tiffin. Personally id look to get close to Hinchley wood if you are searching in that area.

Cobham has good primary but not secondary as far as im aware.
They also need a new school there.
