New head has instructed staff to do above!!
They get returned 2 hrs later a t lunch, so my son who is working towards water only, has a drink at 8am then not til 1pm ! the idea behind preventing dehydration is to increase a childs fluid intake to enhance concentration levels in school and a dash of good squash or flavoured water which a lot of parents would /are using will be confiscated !!(hs sugar free additive free, natural flavouring dash of squash to take rawness off for time being) all rest of family drink water, but son has food issues, and refuses to drink water on its own.we keep trying, others did convert a t there own pace!(children should be treated as individuals at school are they not??) If it was coke i could understand!
We have to give written consent to many things in school time, this needs our permission does it not?checking, confiscating. We fought two wars in this country to deny dictorial leadership??

"At the end of the day it matters not what anyone else thinks"

Why post about it on here then?

My friends Dc' school do this too. She kicked up a fuss and her dc2 takes squash.

All very well but she sent in 2 bottles and made a deal that she drunk a little water and then teacher would allow her squash. She drinks the water so all this 'won't drink it' is tosh imo. She also said she would have water MOn and Tues if she was allowed squash the other days Hmm

I think that he should take the water and you should show less concern about whether he drinks it or not as he'll pick up your concern. A simple "well your only allowed water so if you chose not to drink it you'll be thirsty." Ensure he has fluids before he goes into school and on the way home. Maybe a reward chart for drinking a certain amount. If after 1 month he has had NOTHING any day during school meet with the HT, explain the positive steps you've taken to encourage him and work something out.

My DS and the school I work staff and pupils have water bottles and acess to water all day when ever wanted.
