Hello,

I just wondered if anyone can help me.

I've moved area and my DD is due to start primary school any day now I guess.

I have sent off forms to LA for her to be offered a place almost 2 weeks ago. Should I ring them and chase it or just wait.

Also I know a place will be offered at any school that has a place What do I do if it is miles and miles and miles away and I have no way of getting there. (I have a hip problem and in the winter I am unable to drive as my whole leg " sticks"

I suppose i'm just panicking and need to know what's going to happen. I'm also in need of a childminder but, can not hire one until I know which school she will be going to. Sorry it's long and not very well layed out I'm all stressed which I know is no excuse for poor spelling or grammer .

I'd be on the phone tomorrow morning and ask them to get it sorted asap for you. Term is starting now and it would be beneficial if your DD could start with them all more or less at the same time.

Thank you.

As she is a younger one (April) and they do staggered starts here she isn't due to actually start fro two/three weeks BUT i need to get uniform sorted and childcare.

Think i will ring tommorow in my lunch hour.
It's not to pushy is it?

This happened to us when DD was starting reception. We moved in late August and the nearest (v good) school was full, so I asked which other local schools had spaces. Then I took her to visit as many as it took to find a place we liked. She started a week late, but it was fine.

You certainly need to chase this. I wouldn't regard ringing in lunch hour as too pushy.

If the place offered is more than 2 miles away from your home the LA will have to provide transport. However, they only have to provide transport for your DD, not for you, so you would not be able to accompany your DD to and from school.

Thank you all for the above. I actually got a letter in the post today. The school is a one form entry about 3 miles away but, its an easy 3 miles (small lanes not busy roads) and if I need more another operation on my leg, There is a taxi sceme her so I would be able to take her to and from school Grin

All i need to do now is uniform and childcare.
