We are due to move in the next few weeks, I have already identified the school that I would like my boys to attend but am now racked with fear that they wont get a place and ill have some horrendous nightmare trying to find them somewhere. Getting them to their current school from our new house is going to be a logistal nightmare.

because the school is currently closed due to holidays, I cant even make contact to find out if there are any places.

Moving is proving stressful. This is just adding to to stress.

Have any of you moved during the KS2 stage at school. any stories appreciated to help me with my woe.....

There may be someone in the education authority who can tell you whether there are spare places, just give them a ring and ask for the admissions section.

Why don't you HE at least temporarily? At KS2 it really won't be that big an issue.

You really don't have to stress that much. It does seem quite a sudden move though.

The method for obtaining a place at a school other than at a normal entry time (ie into reception year) changes from the 1st September. From then onwards it will be the responsibility of the Local Authority to carry out all the administration of allocation of school places.

Personally I think this is just going to be a nightmare way of doing it, but those are the rules from 1st September. So I would not wait. I would approach the LA by email and ask for places at the school you want now. Whilst the LA will not be able to do much until someone at the school can advise on availability of places it could just be that you will get priority over anybody who approaches the school directly.

will phone the LEA now.

HomeEd not ever going to be an option. I work FT and lack the patience or tolerance needed to spend all day every day at home with the kids!!!
