I'm looking for new ideas, having done the usual suspects (Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Jacqueline Wilson). My dd is an average reader, she enjoys shorter books rather than long novels. She's currently reading Hetty Feather by Jacqueline Wilson and finds that the right level for her ability. What other books could I suggest for her?

Try Marianne Dreams by Catherine Storr. She won't be able to put it down all summer!

DD is whipping thru Secret Life of Jaimie B series.
And comic books, can never get enough of those.
Pony club books, too (heaps of those in library, too).

The Giant Under the Snow

Ballet Shoes (or anything else by Noel Streatfeild)

Dd is 9 yo and loves Cathy Cassidy books. She read Marianne Dreams around Easter time and loved it. She also read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Wind in the Willows recently and raved about both of them.

i used to love the Animal Ark books, I think it was Lucy Dale who wrote them. Not too long and all fluffy animals but pretty well written.

Diane Wynne Jones perhaps?
My year 4 classes usually love Coraline by Neil Gaiman. She could also try the Graveyard Book.
