Where do you get school trousers from? Age 4

Yes I am being very prepared! In my defence ds starts in reception in September and being normally very ill-prepared for everything I want to get this right!

Tried Tesco trousers on him this morning and were ridiculously big and ill-fitting. Is there anywhere you would recommend for good fitting trousers?

He is a normal-sized 4.2 year-old.

Thanks in advance

I bought some from M&S today for DS, who is also 4. £3.50 a pair

M&S.

My ds's school trousers are from M&S - he is skinny and they have an adjustable waist. I get shorts from there too. I get the £7 ish ones as I tried the cheaper ones once and he trashed them whereas the slightly dearer ones last him a year.

Have also had good ones from John Lewis.

BHS - elasticated waist, no fastenings!

My DS also starts reception in september, I bought his trousers from Asda only £3 a pair with adjustable waist.

MIL has bought him some from M&S for £7 a pair with adjustable waist.

Quality wise they both look good but I like the look of the ones from asda better than the M&S ones.

Oh are the £3.50 one really rubbish clayhead? They have an adjustable waist too.

iloveasylumseekers · 25/07/2010 19:41

the M&S flat front adjustable waist ones are brilliant. A good fit but also seriously hard wearing. DS1's smallest ones (I got 2 aged 4 and 2 aged 5) are now too short but they look practically new. So I'm getting the same ones in aged 6 or year 1.

Ok, will try M&S as is easier to get to than Asda - thanks!

Also - how many pairs of trousers do you think he will need?

All I know is my ds trashed them but he is older now!

another for the M&S flat fronted for £3.50. DS1 is 4 next week and starts in September and he's in age 5 (v. tall but very slim) and they are a great fit.

DreamTeamGirl · 26/07/2010 00:42

Get 5 or 6 pairs if you can
try them all for fit. My DS is chunkier and I eventually ended up with Matalan & BHS, so you may just need to try a few different ones

I buy school uniform from M&S. The trousers are hardwearing enough to withstand the boys' wear and tear, and they have adjustable waistbands for my skinny kids!

The boys have 3 pairs of trousers each - one on, one in the wash and one in the wardrobe.

Thanks all, just an update that I have actually got some trousers from Sainsbury's.

On advice of my friend our local m&s only has old trousers with no adjustable waists and I happened to be in Sainsbury's today!

They fit really well, quality seems good, but I suppose will only find that out over time.

And - £4 for 2 pairs - how is that even possible?! Am a bit worried about the quality because of the price but at least they fit!

Also - got 4 pairs as come in packs of 2, hope will be enough.
