KS1 school/teacher refuse to give test results.

A little background-We received the school report with teacher assessment grades,we were suprised by a couple of the grades,no comparative report was received.
We therefore asked for a comparative report, the scores on the actual tests(we realise this is a small part, etc, etc) and the age standardised scores.
Today we and 12 other parents that asked for the same info received a letter that stated "Teacher assessments are accurate" and a refusal to give the test results-"no legal requirement" we were informed age standardised scores are no longer completed,we also received a comparative report that did not subdivide level 3.
So can a teacher/governor confirm
A) The school can refuse to give the actual test results
B) Age standardised scores are no longer completed,
C) Comparative results dont need to subdivide level 3.

Any help much appreciated.

I'm fairly sure that at KS1 you don't subdivide if they hit level 3.

Yes, you're right Giddypickle and Shaz10 - a 3 need only be reported to parents, LEA and government as a 3.

However, within school they will certainly apply a fine grading to go with their tracking. Although they are under absolutely no statutory obligation to discuss this, I can't see anything to be gained by not discussing it on request, iyswim.

Have no idea what the percentile rank is - it can't be nationally, because the school won't know the 2010 results. Unless they've used the 2009 results I suppose.

Thanks for the responses,They certainly did "fine grade" on the report we got,so they must be saying that although they gave "fine grades" on the reports the figures theyve sent to LEA etc will just show a 3 (ie not 3a,3b,3c)
Like you i presume the percentile must be class, because as you say 2010 results wont be out.
It would certainly seem that these tests are very unimportant for the teacher assessment ive seen or heard now of 8 LEVEL 3 reading sat test results , in these children scored between 10 and 27,but they were all given a teacher assessment of 3c(in their reports)
Thanks once again, all help much appreciated.
Blimey its complicated...

overmydeadbody none of it will matter by the time OP's child is 8!!

If all the other teacher assessment evidence points to a 3c, and the test is a high 3, then all the other 3c evidence over-rides it. (i.e the child's work 'best fits' a 3c).

It does seem odd that all the 3s are a 3c though.

But how do you know what all the other children got?

propatria · 21/07/2010 20:11

Other parents told me what their children got,we all get on well so dont have a problem discussing shared interests.
Im afraid feenie we have lost all faith in this teacher, lets remember she gave all our children the same grade, made children sit two tests, made it very clear they were sitting sats tests, the scores on the actual tests are very different, she tries to stop us seeing the test results, says standarised scores arent produced(we got them in our letter today) but claims teacher assessments are accurate....
Maybe by some strange quirk all the children were a 3c, then again...
