DD (age 6 just finishing Yr1) has been given for her birthday specifically for subscriptions for one of these online sites. She is now above the average level for her age for reading but just below for Maths- So a site that would help her to grasp the concepts and have confidence using numbers would be good. She is quite confident using the computer but a site where I can print off worksheets and stuff would also be good

We have tried Education City before with some success pn their trial but i don't know what else is out there

Any recommendations??

Im a Mathwhizz advocate. Find it very clear in explaining concepts. DD 7 used it 15 mins daily since Sept and has finished in top 3 at end of year exams. She has much more confidence than pre MathWhizz.
School has compulsary Mathletics 15 mins 3 x per week but I think its OK for practice and not as good as Mathwhizz.

Worksheets I have used:
Firstschoolyears.com
homeschoolmath.net
math-drills.com
edhelper.com

DD just competed 2 week summer school using math millionaire and math playground which she found enjoyable.

Other mnetters have recommended Mathfactor which Im going to check out over the summer.

Good Luck

Forgot to add parentsintouch for worksheets.
Its a small amount to join the website but I found it useful for DD for key stage 1

I'm a Maths Whizz fan too. lots of variety - clear illustrated/animated explanations and tailored to you child's ability via an assessment.
I have used Educationcity too but I found that it's hard to get the level right. Dc has founds it too hard at the start of the year and too easy at the end.

Let me try that again!
www.ixl.com US maths but very good except for money - it taught me a thing or two about how to write out numbers in words. Costs about $10 per month
www.bigbrainz.com free and a really fun way of practising the times tables

My DS is a HUGE fan of www.bigbrainz.com. He was so focused on defeating the ogres with his goo gun that he learned his times tables without realising it. Much more fun than the endless recitation of tables that I remember!

DS also enjoys education city. Parts of it can be too easy, but it has enabled him to learn things independantly eg German & Spanish. He does have a tendency to keep playing the "easy" games and avoiding areas where he is less secure. We are considering Maths Whizz to ensure that he works on his weaker areas.
