What do you allow a DD to do

My DD is a proper girlie girl.

She likes fake tan and lashes ( so many bloody lashes)
I find bastard lashes everywhere. Black glue all the over her units.
Anyway she won't go anywhere without her bloody lashes on. We've been away and they were on for the beach & pool ffs.
I've asked her to reduce the amount of time she wears them and got a load of tears (no tantrum) is this normal for girls now.
I've never been a make up type person so I wonder if I'm just not with it.
I'm worried about her eyes but she says they're fine. I've tried explaining I wouldn't let her eat sweets every day to protect her teeth so I'm just trying to protect her eyes

Year 8 is the 2nd year of high school?? So he's, pretty normal at this stage. Lashes are applied outside the eyes, I don't suppose there is much risk physically if it's done properly

I wouldn't have let my dd cake herself in make-up or wear fake eyelashes in year 8. I'm a teacher and have had a Y8 tutor group this year. The majotity of them wear a little bit of make-up but do not go this far. The ones with orange legs and big Russian-style lashes really stand out. They are often the girks with poor self-confidence They aren't supposed to wear fake eyelashes to school, but dear lord the drama if you ask them to remove them! It's really, really sad to see such young girls panicking at the idea of being seen without their lashes. So bad for their self-esteem to get hooked on this at a young age. This is when it starts.

This is so normal now a days! My now 19 year old spent years obsessed with her eyebrows. Even getting up at the crack of dawn on birthdays so I couldn't snap any photos of her without them! I remember tantrums because they weren't even so couldn't possibly go to school (she did). She is 19 now and will go out without them. It's a phase just don't take any notice. It's like a comfort blanket. We all have our insecurities and if some lashes make her happy leave her be!

I work in a school and am fascinated by the eyelashes and fake nails. They can't hold a pen properly! And some of the eyelashes are like hoover brushes. I'm surprised they can see.
When I was 13 it was over plucked 70s eyebrows which gave us a permanently surprised expression and gloopy roll on lip gloss so it looked like you'd been eating a spoonful of lard.

This. I’d be gutted that her self esteem was so low.

As a parent with a dd the same age neither her nor any of her friends use fake tan or eyelashes. As for make up as far as I've seen mine is the only one who ever wears makeup and that's only on stage. I definitely get the impression that the fakeness of it is looked down on by the majority here.

Just to clarify she isn't orange with massive Russian lashes.

Girls watch endless videos on application. She's very skilled at beauty related stuff.
Seems it's a phase then and I should just jet her crack on. She's doing well in school so can't complain.
At her age I'd discovered long skirts with a fringe which I wore with a knitter mohair jumper my mum had made for me and my Nick Rhodes hair cut.

8 ffs?

I hope you're making this up, because otherwise the poor girl is being subject to some really shit parenting.

How on earth have you read her age as 8?

You may feel she’s good at her hobby but she cried when she was faced with not wearing lashes. I’d be looking for ways to raise her self esteem.
