Anyone know some good vitamins 11yo?

Hi there,

My son is 11, not overly the best eater with a wide variety of foods. We try encourage him to try new thing sometimes he will try other times no. He does eat fruits, not so much veg but we do hide some in his dinners.
He used to take those basset flavour jelly vitamins but we bought a vit b complex suitable for his age as it appeared to have better ingredients.

But he still looks run down, he is quite fair skinned but today I was looking at him and he just looks really off colour (feels well) eating drinking as normal, a lot more tired than usual though (falling asleep after school) , but has a decent bed time.

Just wondered if anyone has some good child vitamin suggestions?

Maybe some iron supplements? You can get chewy gummy sweet ones. Could be worth requesting a blood test with GP.

@MuddySnow Thank you I will have a look for some, I did think about the gp doing bloods but not sure how he would feel about that. Suppose they would only do it if they thought he look bit peaky themselves.
thank you for your reply x

My eldest (14DS) is the same. Never been a good eater, will pick at most green things and tends to push food around his plate. We tried him with a shake a few years back which he didn’t like. He’s always had a multivitamin for as long as I remember but now he’s older he takes a daily supplement for teenagers, it’s 2 tablets a day which seems to have helped with the ‘gaunt’ look he was getting. He gets enough outside time so isn’t a lack of vitamin D etc. More he isn’t getting the right nutrients through food but a daily food supplement should help. It’s tough as my other 2 kids eat absolutely everything. Good luck x

My teen just had a blood test and her iron is at the bottom of normal which explains her tiredness - I kind of assumed it was a teenage thing. But waiting to go back to the GP to get the right iron prescribed as when I was looking at the vitamins in Superdrug today none of the kids ones have iron in them. The adults ones say don’t give to kids as overdosing on iron can be easy for children and dangerous. So just a warning if planning to buy some. Maybe get checked first. I’m hoping gp can prescribe chewy ones though.

@celticprincess Thank you, what a shame hope she feels better once she gets the right prescription.
Will have a look at different ones.

Thank you so much to everyone who replied, I appreciate all your responses xx

How's he doing now @LittleLemonPie? Is there any improvement?

Has he seen the doctor?

@CadyEastman Hi, he’s doing bit better now thank you for asking 😊 he’s had bit more energy this week, no falling asleep after school.

@CurlewKate no he hasn’t seen a dr, was hoping could manage it with some added vitamins and encouragement with trying more variety foods 😊

I think things have been bothering him at school also, he had a fall out with friends and he just appeared flat. Think this age is full of different emotions for them. X
