After advice really..I have a 10 year old daughter. She moved up to Guides in January. Tonight she told me that one of the older Guides who she estimates to be 13/14 years old told her that her ex boyfriend wants to have sex with her. I'll be the first to admit, I'm quite disturbed by this. I just find it bizarre and wholly unacceptable that a teenager would choose to have this chat with such a young girl. Unless of course she was going for the shock factor, but even then it's still odd. So now I am in a dilemma, I know the unit leader well, my daughter has been going since she was 5, but my daughter is not keen for me to tell, as she says that she has enough girl drama at school, without it starting at a club. Would you tell the unit leader or not?

Difficult when you know the Leader. If your DD has had enough of girl drama @Coo5, would moving to Scouts be a better option? Less girl drama and less safeguarding concerns.

Do you trust the leader not to make a scandal or get the girls in trouble?

The leader won’t be allowed to make a scandal according to GG policy as I understand it. gG policy says, I believe, that leader can give condoms out, despite little/ no training on recognising if girl is actually being abused/ raped by much older man.

Do you know what school the older girl attends? You could contact the safeguarding team at her school.
Unfortunately 10 year olds being in social situations with teenage girls does mean a lot of conversations like this. Most of it will be a lot of made up/bragging nonsense. But sometimes not. The school safeguarding will know how to deal with it.
