My DD is almost eleven, not one sign of puberty at all, no hair, very slim built, no breast buds. She’s on a residential at the other side of the country, of all places, and one of the leaders called to say she started her period. I’m a bit flummoxed as I totally want expecting it this early, especially in the absence of any other signs….. is this normal?

Bloody hell!

my daughter 10 and also not a hint

not least bit concerned

read up on puberty op. Very very common not for any show at 10/11!

Good grief I am sorry

Cleoforever · 18/04/2023 09:50

I didn’t read about period.

oh your poor girl op.

When is she back with you? How is she?

She's not back home until Friday. She seems ok, I've spoken to her this morning and she's had a settled night, bit cramp and discharge but neither her or the leader has said anything to suspect a full on period. We've discussed it all before and they've had the "talk" at school so we weren't expecting it for a good few year yet, sort of after the development of boobs, maybe I'm just naïve

She definitely didn’t want to come home? What sanitary product is she using?

Be ready with a bath ready for when she returns

Cleoforever · 18/04/2023 10:05

and one of the leaders called to say she started her period
But just discharge? No blood?

raven2023 · 18/04/2023 10:12

Just pads.

Yes she's starting her periods. I did too really early. No boobs or other signs. It happens

raven2023 · 18/04/2023 10:28

Thanks! I think it's just a shock.

I started early so made my dd take a "kit" with her everywhere she went. She was 14 when she started!

raven2023 · 18/04/2023 10:35

This is a good idea. I think I will do the same. It's hard to gage what is going on as I can't really see for myself so to speak.

That does seem strange if she's not had any other symptoms. Is she doing any activities such as abseiling or pony trekking? She's maybe just hurt herself iykwim and it's not actually a period.

raven2023 · 18/04/2023 15:00

No, they’ve not got any of that planned until later in the week. I wonder if there’s some confusion and with safeguarding the teachers can’t really confirm
