Hi all - my 11 year old dd came home last night in tears. She said since Monday she has been experiencing bladder leaks. She said its happening when she stands up and doesn't feel like she has any control to stop it. TMI it is definitely wee and It happened twice yesterday evening at home and she had been to the toilet several times. I sent her to bed with a sanitary towel on and off to school this morn with one on as well. Waiting for the Docs to come back with an appt. Has anyone have any experience of this? She says no pain/burning when using the loo and shes not withholding. She hasn't started her periods yet but getting signs that puberty is on the way - could it be hormones?

Hope you DD is ok. Sounds awful for her. It might be better to get her some Tena lady pants - they're better designed for wee.

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn I was researching this yesterday. Will pop to the chemist tomorrow and get some Tena style ones as you are right, sanitary towels are not the best

Dry nights do a pull up pants to help with wetting while you finger out what causes it and how to fix it. They are 8-15 years and my niece uses sometimes for bed wetting although I know that’s difference to your case.
Here’s the link to Tesco

If her leakage is light then period pants might be enough-you can get light to heavy absorbancy and they are available in small womens sizes (Primark sizes start at a 4)

It might be easier for her to wear these 'proper' pants rather than Tena (and she can use them later when she has periods)

Hi all thank you for all your help, urine dipped today and all looks AOK which left me perplexed. The nurse was excellent and said she would send sample off to be sure. She then asked about bowel movements and asked DD to point on a poo chart what the last couple looked like (tmi again!) and she pointed to the rabbit dropping ones. She then had a feel of the tummy and said she felt a bit blocked. She explained that apparently constipation can cause bladder disfuntion and leakage. DD then said that she had felt constipated and had gone twice yesterday both rabbit droppings. We then came home and she went to the loo again! Nurse prescribed and constipation medicine but chemist was closed by the time we got there! Advised to keep an eye and will get full results of urine next week.

Hi OP. My daughter suffered chronic constipation when she was around your DD'S age, and it caused her to have some leaks. Once we got the constipation under control, the leaks stopped. Hoped this will just be a short-lived episode for your DD and all will be back to normal soon.

@Allthegoodusernamesareused thanks so much, I never thought of a connection between the two! I am hoping that now things are moving ok it will settle down. We've been doing constipation exercises today and will look at diet and water intake. Will also give the prescription a go and see if this helps
