Period pants for preteen or teen

My daughter is 11, 12 next year and I am looking at options for her. Very interested in period pants. They sound so practical and easy. Plus much more eco.

All the ones I've seen are for adults or just too big for her. Any recommendations?

Wuka period pants in XS fit my daughter perfectly when she started at 10 and still fit at 12

I bought the Love Luna ones from Sainsburys. They do a teen (10-14 yrs) size.

tilder · 05/11/2022 22:42

Thank you. I suspect 10-14 will be too big on her. Am looking at Wuka.

Do they just go in the washing machine? On their own?

Plus how long does a pair last? Sounds like all day but that feels weird when towels are changed every few hours!

I got some called Innersy for DD - they are child sizes and they're on Amazon. They go in the washing machine. She uses towels as well but the pants are a good back up.

Modibodi make an age 10-12.
14yo DD likes them. You just have to rinse them before putting in the washing machine. I always line dry them.
I wish I could test them but I no longer have periods.

The Love Luna teen ones were perfect for my slim just turned 11 year old. Lots of stretch.

we rinse and then wash. Hers lasted for a day and then changed at night but she’s very light still so we are still working it out. Others use a pad in them in the morning and take that at at lunch and just have the pants on.

Wuka also for my 12yo. She tried Sainsburys but didn’t like them, the Uniqlo ones are similar to sainsburys. I had lots of trouble with them for my 14yo autistic daughter and she is back using pads. My 15yo autistic daughter prefers pads but I am trying with the wuka again.

Primark

RED by modibodi are specifically for teens.

My teen is very small, but they fit well and work well

LilithImpala67 · 06/11/2022 07:54

Cheeky pants, and you can get heavy day ones which last my daughter all of a school day. Rinse out in cold water until it runs clear, then put in the washing machine on a 30 wash with no fabric softener and don't tumble dry - they do take a while to dry though so it is worth having a fair few of them so you don't run out. They last for ages, I've only had to buy new ones when she outgrew the old ones, easily last for months and months. The cheeky pants come up small as they don't stretch much because if the material they are made of. My daughter is very slim and has to wear size 10-12 pants whilst usually a size 6-8 in clothes, so the smaller sizes would easily fit an 11 year old.

BookedOut · 06/11/2022 07:55

Modibodi comes up small, my size 8 teen wears their size 10 standard ones or age 14 RED ones. Uniqlo has them from age 9, but they come up quite big.

tilder · 06/11/2022 09:56

Thank you all. I don't have periods anymore, so am out of practice and out of date. They just seem such a good idea!

Somebody mentioned swimming costume versions too. Do they actually work?

DD has used the Cheeky Wipes boy shorts since she was 10.5. She puts a reusable pad in with them in the morning then removes it at lunchtime so she can just wear 1 pair of pants per day.

She has a modibody swimming costume.

No issues with either.

PritiPatelsMaker · 08/11/2022 19:28

Primary do some Size 6 which are good for lighter days, not sure if they do a size 4 but they do in lots of things.

Haven't looked for swimming costumes yet though.

bobisbored · 09/11/2022 11:32

Modibody are good. I use them. My DD also has a few Cheeky Wipes pairs.
I tried the bikini bottoms from
Modibody on holiday this year and I have no idea how, but they work!

CocoPlum · 09/11/2022 11:35

My daughter uses the modibodi swimming bottoms - we bought a black tankini and she just switches out the bottom part if she needs to. No idea how they work, but they are only light-medium flow.

WannabeGilmoreGirl · 09/11/2022 11:48

I bought DD aged 12 the xs ones from primark and they're fantastic and good value. I'm really impressed.

Dinoswearunderpants · 09/11/2022 11:52

I absolutely love my period pants but you must get the right size and flow.

I find the light flow ones don't give enough coverage and you can leak. This would be embarrassing for teenagers.

Primark ones were awful and I threw them away.

I recommend Biopad and Confitex. Pink also had some in their sale recently.
