Eat defenders/ear plugs

My DD is 12 and in first year. She’s asked for some ear defenders as has ended up leaving class and going to support due to noise levels. She has a history of hearing issues and seeing the SALT. Does anyone have any recommendations? The school gave her some ear plugs but they are too big, I tried them too and they weren’t any use!

Most foam earplugs are good. They need to be twisted tightly into shape. I use them for sleep all the time and did as a teen. I find tend to buy a large pack normally orange in colour in amazon. You need a bit of practice putting them in and put and they go in slightly further than what you think.

Avoid the wax type earplugs or the hard plastic ones. They are hard and uncomfortable to wear in my experience

Try Happy Ears ear plugs. DD (who has autism) finds them brilliant. They are not cheap at c. £10 a pair, but they are much easier to insert than foam ear plugs and are also really discreet - which is something she is caring about more now, as she is 11 and at Secondary and is more self-conscious about looking different. They are also much less bother than carting about ear defenders. I carry them with me as she likes to put them in when we go on the tube and also for noisier situations out and about. She uses them for sleeping too, as she is a very light sleeper.
