Are any of the period pants as good as Modi Bodi?

I've heard great things about modi bodi. My dd has two weeks of dance exams coming up and Modi Bodi have sold out of her sizes. Looking for nude, seam free for ballet. Can anyone recommend any other brands please?

You know to size up massively in midi body, right? They come up v small. Also they’re not going to be anything like invisible under a leotard, v bulky (& you’ve given me something new to consider for my almost-13 dancer…)

My Modibodi pants are in smaller sizes than my non-period M&S pants.

Really? I had to size down in mine.

My dd has only just had 2 periods so far. Next one due around the exams. It's the ballet one that she's going to need to try something else as the pad is going to show. Any ideas?

Depends on your size, shape and flow. Primark is excellent for slim people and teens with up to a moderate flow and if your hips aren’t very big. Modi bodi is better for women who are pear shaped and don’t have much stomach fat - if you do then the gusset might get pushed out of place and you’ll leak as they aren’t very stretchy. M&S is better for plus sized women but tbh nothing is foolproof if you’re overweight.

I've found Cheeky Wipes pretty good. Not quite as good as Modi Bodi but still good and more affordable - especially as they often have money off deals.

I'm not sure what colours they come in. I always order black.

My teen has got on just fine with them. They aren't particularly bulky at all. More substantial material than normal pants but definitely not bulky and I don't see that they'd be any more visible when doing ballet than normal pants. Modi Bodi is a bit lighter weight material than Cheeky Wipes but none are massive. That's the whole point of period pants really.

I’ve just ordered some from wuka for my teen

AtillatheHun · 17/01/2022 14:58

I’ve bought modi bodily teen range and (as all the comments on the site suggest) you need to size up. Maybe it’s different for the adult sizes?

PutYourBackIntoit · 17/01/2022 17:54

I like Flux ones

Just looked at the teen ones. A lot cheaper than Modi Bodi!
Firsttimeposter121 · 17/01/2022 20:34

I got the modi body teen range for my daughter last week. I wanted to get her the moderate flow ones but they only had them in age 12-14 and she is a slim 11 year old but I ordered her some thinking they would be ok one day- they fit fine now.
She is a dancer and wore them under her leo on sat and said it was fine.

ShowerChair · 17/01/2022 20:44

We bought primark ones because we needed them urgently. DD loved them and for an exam presumably a couple of hours I imagine they would be fine (the light lasted DD about 4 hours). However just check the seam at the back, as they vary between the light/moderate/heavy and I think the light may show under a leotard as it sits lower.

BunnyRuddington · 18/01/2022 07:45

Mi bought DD some Primark ones after reading reviews on here. They're not as absorbent as Modi Modi but fine for lighter days or a short time.

Chris893 · 21/01/2022 10:14

Surely your DDs can use tampons? I would guess that nearly all girls who do ballet would be fine using tampons. A little KY jelly will ease things for the first few times if necessary. A friend says her DD was using tampons for dance class at 10 without any problems, as were her friends.

LemonCake79 · 21/01/2022 20:37

The 8 is in stock in the nude at Modibodi @Carebear69943. Would that do? The black is in stock in a size 6

My DD uses the hipster briefs. She started her periods at 9 and the modibodi are just fabulous for her. They last all day at school.

She's very tall (she is now 10 and is 5,5) for her age but slim. She wears the 10-12 youth and they fit her well so I'd agree they come up at bit small.

Please let me know if you go for the Modibodi. I can send you a referral code for £15 if you'd like one. In the spirit of full disclosure I'd get a £15 discount too.

Times have moved on @Chris893.

My DD wasn’t able to use tampons until a good couple of years after starting her periods (I had problems with them as a teen too). She also prefers to use period pants because she doesn’t like waste.

They didn't work for dd. She soaked though them

DD2 is 11 and has started her periods - except she had one and hasn't had another (it's been two months since her first) DD1 was regular from the start. Have any of you had the same experience? How common is it it for periods to be irregular when they start? Thanks!
