Dd started her period yesterday and she didn’t tell me 😩 I only found out after seeing that she bled through onto her bed.

I ran her a bath and we had a little chat and I helped her with everything.

Today she panicked when she woke up and went to the toilet. There is a lot of blood. More than I thought there would be!

I suffer with really heavy periods. I bought her lil lets (?) snd they don’t seem big enough. She’s only tiny though.

Should I just buy her bigger ones and comfort her? I feel so sad for her, obviously it’s normal but she’s my baby 😔

My dd found lillets teen pads too short and leaked at the back. She likes bodyform with wings although at the start she liked the thicker kotex pads you get in discount chemists

I'm worrying about my daughter now but she's only 9. We've been buying the big nighttime pads for her for the daytime but at night she leaks all over poor bairn. I don't know whether to speak to a doctor about her 😢

My periods were insanely heavy right from t start.

If you can find them I would really recommend some always infinity night time pads they - they are so comfortable and hold so much more blood than a standard towel that they rarely ever leak for me as long as I change them often. I then use the normal size always infinity once the flow slows down. They don’t chafe like other pads and aren’t scented. Unfortunately I can only order them online now.

(I do have endometriosis though and went on the combined pill age 13 because of the bleeding and pain - definitely speak to a GP if the pain is unmanageable with over the counter painkillers or the bleeding is severe)

Mine have always been super heavy and my DD's seem to going the same way.

She's using night towels and Period pants for the first couple of nights. I bought her the ModiBodi pants after reading recommendations on here Smile

Modibodi pants are really good. They do a range for teens. I think they are still delivering.

GetUpAgain · 18/04/2020 15:38

I am going to say this quite firmly. It's not about you. When/how you found out, what your own periods are like. Take a step back, emotionally! It's a normal bodily function which will hopefully be fine for your daughter. Don't teach her to be scared or upset or whatever. It's the same thing as dealing with spiders. Set the tone, you're the adult. Be practical and non dramatic. Yes of course get different pads to see which is best, run her a bath, be kind. But this isn't the start of something stressful or terrible.

DropZoneOne · 18/04/2020 15:50

Buy her a range of pads - DD is 12, has had periods for two years, and current preference is Always Infinity which are a spongey-foam type which she finds most comfortable.

She also has a few pairs of Modibodi Red period pants for school days (especially PE days), because she won't change pads at school.

Mummypig2020 · 18/04/2020 16:24

Do the modibodi pants last up all day?

That’s my worry when she goes back school

I think my DD wears them as a back up with her other stuff so that she doesn't leak. When she's on her lighter days though, she can just wear the pants.

I'd try getting her a range of Sanpro so they she work out what she likes and have a read up on the period pants Smile

DropZoneOne · 18/04/2020 21:42

I got the heavy absorbency, it's the equivalent of 2-3 tampons so should be adequate for a school day.

SarahTancredi · 18/04/2020 21:59

Lilets teens do a longer pad in the pink.packet. if that's any use.

Endofmytether2020 · 19/04/2020 13:30

I would definitely treat Modibodi as a back up, but they are very good at preventing leaks taking away that worry.
