9 year old daughter really emotional

Hi my 9 year old daughter has been really emotional since the 26th dec I don’t know whether it is hormones anxiety or something else. She comes to me and says “I just feel like crying” every time I ask her what she’s crying for or if she’s scared or worried about anything she says no she doesn’t know why she is crying. She is normally a bubble really outgoing person.
I had her at the doctors last Thursday and they have don’t urine sample and blood tests to check loads of different things and all has come back satisfactory. We are at the doctors again at the end of the month to see if she is still the same.
Has anyone else experience this with their child and have u managed to get to the bottom of what the problem was???

No advice really but my 8 year old has been the same. She's tearful and emotional for no real reason. She says nothing is bothering her and she isn't worried about anything. I do wonder if it's hormones at work. I recently had to buy her a deodorant and we've had a talk about growing up. She says she just feels upset sometimes 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi thanks for your replies.
She started will belly ache on the 23rd when we was at a bounce place and I thought it was because she was either hungry or getting a stomach bug. We came home with McDonald’s she didn’t want anything but then ended up sharing ours and was fine again. She has belly ache again the day after but was fine after something to eat. Then her dad went working away on the 23rd to the 28th which he has never done before but I have spoken to her about this and asked if it could have been that bothering her but she said no she wasn’t thinking about that. I have just asked her to get in the shower and she went upstairs and cried, I was a bit harsh with her and told her that she can’t cry because I’ve asked her to get in the shower I put the shower on and told her to hurry up and get in which she did and stopped crying

My almost 8 yr old is the same, I'm putting it down to hormones. She is having to use deodorant, using panty liners and starting to get breast buds, seems so young but apparently it's normal.

My 9 year old DD gets like this when she's tired or if she's spent too long on screens or indoors. Can happen at the end of a weekend if we haven't done much fun Sad

It’s happened every day since the 26th dec. she is tall for her age but quite slim there are no signs of hair under arms or below or nothing else that I could think yes deffo puberty. I’m just going out of my mind trying to figure out what it is and when it’s going to end lol

I’m a year 5 teacher and a few of my class have already started their periods. Two of them are quite petite girls. It’s not unusual for them to cry for no real reason.... on Friday it was because one girl couldn’t draw a fish!

I’ve been told that children start to have huge waves of hormones biting them at this age which can make them very emotional? My DD is almost 9 and is definitely becoming more emotional and “teenagery”. Could it just be this?

Mine is the same. I am currently hiding in the garden as she started because I told her to be careful with the iron. I did not ask her to iron her top but she wanted to and it’s my fault she burnt herself. She is soo rude to me and shouts then tells me to stop shouting when I don’t even raise my voice. I think it is hormonal. She seems to get away from herself and can’t control it then an hour later is playing with a doll or a bear like a little girl again.

it’s a bit young but she could be about to start her periods. i started aged 9 and for a month or two beforehand i went through a crying stage. i can remember during the summer holidays i spent more time inside crying than outside playing. even now i still have crying episodes the week before i’m due to start.

Same here with DD about to turn 9. Lots of worrying, unable to sleep. Tummy aches.

I think some of it is hormones and some of it is worries about their bodies changing.

Mine too. She is usually so happy but has moments of crying and needing a cuddle. I think it is hormonal.

9 isn't too young for periods, sounds like hormones. Just explain to her it's common to feel like she is and she can talk to you about anything she needs to. I would get her into the habit of carrying a pad in her bag just in case.

Thanks everyone you have all reassured me that it could be hormones, u know what it’s like being a parent u blame yourself for everything. Ye she is the same one min can be fine and it’s like a switch has been flicked and she starts crying. She is getting a bit snappy with her siblings but not with me or her dad. I just wanted some advice as if ppl thought it could be anxiety I didn’t want to leave it to fester and get worse. I have already bought her a worry book but she says she can’t write anything in it because she’s not worried or scared about anything.

My DD turned 8 last month. She has been like this since the Summer hols, emotional one minute then back to playing with her dolls, then like a stroppy snappy teen the next. I never know what response I'm going to get from one minute to the next. Similarly she often mentions tummy pains.

In Sept we were together in a public loo and I noticed she had a brownish discharge on her underwear. I took her to the GP worried about an infection, GP sent off her urine sample which came back clear. At the appt the GP did say it was not unusual for girls to experience hormonal changes at this age and to occasionally get discharge without any other signs of puberty showing yet. I hadn't mentioned the jekyll and hyde personality.

Ow no was hoping it wouldn’t last that long lol I could copy with her being emotional for a few days a month but not everyday like it is now. Ye I’ve had my daughter at docs he tested for loads include hormone levels but came back satisfactory but what they mean by satisfactory I don’t know so I have requested to her her test results on her online app for the doctors so I can look into that more.

This is a long shot, but do you think this is something to do with how Christmas made her feel, and she no longer feels like a child, and the magic has gone and won't ever come back?

Ive spoke to her about Xmas and her dad not being there as he normally is (he did come back Xmas day for a few hours before going back to work) she did say it felt different because her dad wasn’t here and grandma and grandad was but she was so excited for Xmas and she got a Segway which she has wanted for ages but hasn’t really been on as much as I thought because of how she has been, she just wants to sit in her room.
