Removing leg hair - at what age?

DD1 is 11 and about to start year 7. She keeps mentioning how hairy her legs are. The secondary uniform is a skirt - no trouser option. I remember feeling the same at her age but thinking my mum would be appalled at the idea of me shaving my legs - and my relief when my mum eventually (a couple of years later) broached the subject. Is 11 too young, though? WWYD - or WDYD, if you've been through this?

I went to school with a girl whose mother was French. She had her legs and underarms waxed from age 11. By the time she was 18 there was barely any regrowth. I was so jealous (Mediterranean colouring and very dark body hair)

My dd asked about this loosely a few times, then really asked properly at the start of summer so I bought her a Phillips dry/wet razor, battery powered. I showed her how to use it and she can now do her legs and armpits with it safely.

I was a little sad that she'd become aware of her body hair, but then I shave my legs so didn't feel I could be hypocritical about it!

Oh - and she is 12.

It's not too young imo. I remember removing underarm hair in primary and my dd was tweezing her eyebrows before secondary too.

Year 7, I bought her an electric razor.

DD got a ladyshave when she was 11.5 and was in Y7. I left it up to her to decide when to start, just showed her how to do it.

We went for a ladyshave as I think waxing or hair removal cream is too aggressive for her skin.

She does it when she remembers, is not too bothered when she forgets it for a while.

I think she saves her arm pits more than her legs but her leg hair is fairly thin and pale anyway. We will see how it goes when they change for PE the first time now.

She is pretty fab thank you CheeseChipsMayo. We got home late the other day and we were channel hopping (looking for news articles on the prorogue) and Naked Attraction was on. We had only seen it once and explained the premise to dd. She was utterly horrified by how hairless the women were. Not the choice to remove but the uniformity. She is currently bucking the trend by shaving her head hair and leaving everything else natural. She is one of the only girls in the school with short hair, certainly the only one who shaves her head, wears no make up and removes no body hair. Plus the boys uniform thing. I am inordinately proud of her and it's not easy sometimes because some people see her as a target for bullying but she has good self esteem and simply rolls her eyes.

I would be as proud and supportive if she removed hair, wore make up etc of course.

Another vote for "if it's bothering her, help her". Dd is back to school today Y8 - helped her last night. She went through Y7 not doing- some of her friends did it at primary school.
Age doesn't matter .
