8 year old girl - onset of anxiety

Hi everyone
I'm at my wits end and hopeful that someone can help me by giving some advice on a situation with my daughter.
She turned 8 earlier in the year and has from time to time been a bit clingy but recently its really stepped up a gear to the point where I would say shes anxious most of the time and looks really sad.
There has been no change to her routine, nothing out of the ordinary, school seems ok. Well I say nothing out of the ordinary, she fell seriously ill at the end of last year. She recovered well and very quickly with no lasting issues but I'm wondering if it is this that she is struggling with. Its breaking my heart.
Examples are crying when I take her to school tears before bedtime every night without fail, not settling when in bed and up 6-7 times a night, only settles if she lays with me or her dad.
I'm so concerned about her, but also wonder if its behaviour (which again seems so out of character.)
Can anyone help?

Hi Papco
I am so sorry to hear about this situation. I suspect that your little one is struggling to process what has been going on with you health-wise, and she won't understand why it was so important that you attended your medical appointment in your hols. Or maybe she understands why and that is too scary for her.
Either way I would recommend that you talk to a children's therapist.
Her saying that she wants to live with her child minder will be so that she doesn't have to face the emotions that she feels whilst at home rather than the fact that she doesn't want to be part of your family.
Especially as an only child, you and her dad will be her everything and so the thought of you going through your transplant and subsequent treatment is a lot for her to cope with at her age.
Definitely talk to a therapist, it will do wonders for her and for your relationship.
She loves her mummy so much. It's clear from her reaction, the poor little thing is just scared x
