Tics

I've noticed my dd10 starting to do repetitive behaviours that look like tics. She's making a kind of hmm noise, sniffing and blinking. I noticed it today while she was watching a movie so it's not a stress thing as she was nice and relaxed. My husband noticed it in the car a few nights ago. Should I be worrying and seeking help or just observe and hope it's just a phase?

Could be a few teenage tics, if it gets obsessive go see a GP.

Write down when you see it so you have a record. Seizure activity can look like this too.

My ds11 started with this aged 10. It was also mainly when he was relaxed. Spoke to school who had never noticed them and he felt he didn't have them at school. Saw a doctor and paediatrician who felt he would in time grow out of them. They eventually stopped for quite a while but I have noticed they have recently come back. He says he can't control them. Hoping they will disappear again soon . I have read they are quite common whilst going through pubity

My son had a sudden onset of tics aged 8. It was in fact a condition caused by strep called PANDAS. If it gets worse fast it's something worth looking into!

This happened to me when I was younger and I'm afraid to say that it just got progressively worse and worse. Your dd's tics seem to sound similar to mine and so I'd keep an eye on them to see if they get any worse! My tics were in fact the begins of OCD which I later had to seek treatment for in my teenage years, which I'm still being treated for. Therefore maybe have a chat to see why she is behaving this way in order to prevent them from getting any worse Smile
