11 year old DD, are hormones making her smell odd

For a few months now I've noticed my DD who just turned 11 smells a bit odd. I just get a whiff of the smell - which is like a very chemically body odour smell - every now and again. It's not constant. I did wonder if she was needing to wash more often but she showers regularly and uses deodorant. Her hair smells fine. Her clothes smell fine. DH can't smell it at all, just normal BO after she's been exercising a lot.

Is this just hormone changes?

Have you considered body hair? Is the smell clinging to her and she hasn't started hair removal?? I know she's young but could explain?

or interestingly could be hormonal changes in yourself - at a certain age things like smell can be effected as well

Have you changed soap or shampoo? My daughter cannot use cherry shampoo the stench is appalling

Their body odour does seem to change at this age,nothing to do with body hair.
I remember it with my DD,very strong.We got her a pitroc which helped and it does settle as they get older.Just tell her it's normal and to keep showering daily,use soap not shower gel too.

I'm menopausal so might be me as much as her. Going to try daily showering see if that helps. She has very little body hair and has already been removing armpit hair as she wanted it gone so been helping her with it.

Like pear drops? That can be a sign of diabetes.

@Hellonheels Yes, I shower daily!! DD showers every second day unless she's been exercising. And that's a fight. She'd happily go without for a week!

OP I think you may have hit upon the reason for the whiff.

Body odour clings to hair if not being showered daily.... not sure why people are saying it doesn't??

Daily showering might solve the problem! And make sure she is washing under her arms properly - we had to tell our two to do this as otherwise they just stood under the shower and let the water run over them.
Their smell does change as their bodies are changing we found.

As a young teen I smelled unless I showered twice a day. I think all you can do is try to make her shower more and scrub armpits and any other skin folds with good proper soap (no organic all natural nonsense) and a loofah or wet facetowel.

Thanks for the helpful comments. I stood over her the last few days and made her shower daily. Also checked she was washing properly - with soap and flannel. Think she needs to up her game a bit with making sure she actually cleans all her stinky bits properly!
