11 year old DD body odour

My DD smells Sad

I know that sounds awful, but it's a fact.

She's bathes daily, washes with soap/shower gel, uses roll-on, anti-perspirant, body spray and perfume, we've even tried talc, but I'm not keen on her using that daily. Her armpits smell as soon as she gets out of the bath. She doesn't sweat excessively.

Clean shirt daily, I was her blazer and coat weekly.

Does it warrant a visit to the GP? I'd hate to waste anyone's time with this.

Someone suggested Driclor to me, but I'm wary of all the chemicals she's rubbing into her skin as it is.

I'm worried it's going to be noticed at school, I'd hate her to be labelled as smelly.

I have a 14 year old DD and she hasn't had any issues with BO.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

is she actually washing herself in the shower/bath?
my 12yo likes to just get wet and get out. still smelly and with greasy hair...
regular reminders to actually use the soap are needed.

If you iron the under arms of her clean shirts and give them a sniff I'll wager they smell of BO.

My DDs both had BO starting from 7. Blew my mind. It's rarely an issue now at 13 & 14 but I'm like a blood hound. DSD is a bit hygiene shy, but the faintest whiff is dealt with. We all use sure stick or cream and it does the trick. I'm a total sweaty Betty.

I have to supervise my dd same age in the bath and she won’t shower at all. Sometimes I literally wash her with a sponge as she just doesn’t do it properly. Plus she doesn’t care about hygiene - teeth or clothes or changing pants. It’s a full time job keeping her clean.

Also some children are definitely smellier than others. I have one stinky child and one non-smelly child somehow.

Possibly more to it in your dc’s case.

My son went through a phase like this at 14. I thought that it would be like that for years but is stopped after a few months. I think it was a hormone surge (who knows???) but mercifully it went back to normal.
I use Driclor myself. Changed my life when GP prescribed it for me in my early 20s. It is the best at dealing with excessive perspiration (underarms). Personally i think it's worth a try.

Like a PP I've heard that switching to organic milk can help if you've not tried that already.

I have a similar problem. Spray deodarants and roll on don't work for me. The only one that works for me is dove/sure maximum protection. It's like a cream instead of a liquid. It really helps and stops the sweat.

I know it's not a cleaning problem but this may help on PE kit etc. My dp has this issue and we have solved the lingering smell on his gym clothes by making a paste using bicarbonate of soda and leave on the armpits overnight or 24 hours, even if not that sweaty the smell is always gone and he doesn't seem to smell at all any more. (He's very clean, not over weight and uses deodorant etc and this was the only thing we did differently). Hope you find a solution op it must be so embarrassing for your DD

Unfortunately changing to organic milk did nothing to help my daughter -however there is probably some truth in all the intensive farming contributing to early puberty symptoms - probably need to be organic from day one to avoid it though

I do think it’s a GP issue. There are diseases that can cause people to smell. Diabetes, kidney issues, infection, genetic disorders for example. I’d also make a dental appt in case it’s her breath/teeth.

If you have done all the washing/hygiene things and the issue persists take her to the GP to get things ruled out.

Sure spray, the antibacterial one. No smells whatsoever from 12 year old ds with this deodorant !
