Your pre teen doesn't quite need a b*a but a c. Top doesn't quite provide the coverage they want.

Apologies for the weird spelling//abbreviation just trying to stop this coming up on a Google search given the sudden influx of trolls and weirdos.

Its more what's visible when wearing vest tops than needing any kind of support. Are expensive sports tops the only solution due to the thicker material?
I am.a.regular poster btw

If she’s needing support, then doesn’t she need a bra OP?

I thought that only thread titles were searchable. Am I wrong?

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/08/2018 23:03

Thanks for your reply :) she doesn't need the support however the beginnings of development is kind of visible through crop tops when she wears tighter t shirts and vests. She certainly wouldn't fill a bra however she's becoming more conscious of it. Crop tops just don't seem to be "thick enough"

I think Primark make sports bras OP. Would they be any good?

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/08/2018 23:12

I was thinking sorts bras but I did want to check it wouldn't be damaging in anyway to wear all day?

Plus obviously it's trying to find ones in white that won't show through school shirts..

How about looking for an non underwired bralette ? Bralettes are generally designed to be half way between a bra and crop top, so will be comfortable - no padding or wires but still coverage. I have a couple Calvin Klein ones that are nice but give it a google loads come up :)

sirmione16 · 18/08/2018 23:17

Word of caution- some bralettes are designed to be sexy lingerie, some are designed to be comfy loungewear!! Obviously I'm intending you to look at the comfy ones! Grin

I got DD some sports c. tops in Sports Direct for about £10 each. They're lightly p@dded so that helps to protect her as it can be a bit uncomfortable sometimes if someone nudges her, and they're more comfortable on the shoulders than regular b*as with the sk1nny str@ps. Also doesn't matter if they show under v£sts etc as it just looks like another v£st underneath, she got a black, white and bright pink one and she loves them.

(Hope my disguised words are legible!)

dementedpixie · 18/08/2018 23:22

I'd look for nude colour rather than white as white is more visible under a white shirt

LockedOutOfMN · 18/08/2018 23:23

I've seen quite thickish crop tops - M&S "Angels" range, maybe, or New Look for teens? I shop for underwear at women.secret (I'm abroad) and they certainly have them, but I'm not sure if you can buy them in the U.K. - perhaps online.

LockedOutOfMN · 18/08/2018 23:25

Something like this ? Sizing is a tiny bit (e.g. half a size) smaller in comparison to U.K. stores like M&S.

LockedOutOfMN · 18/08/2018 23:26

Or this one.

purpleorchidwhite · 18/08/2018 23:27

We use sports bras. Sports direct do XS right up to XL.
I've found some comfortable ones in Matalan too in an XS. They are supportive, padded yet flattening somehow. They seem to fit the bill for a first bra without the drama.

chaplin1409 · 18/08/2018 23:28

I would second the looking in m and s. I have 3 girls and they have all started with the bras from the children's section in m and s.

Gileswithachainsaw · 18/08/2018 23:36

She will be wearing blue shirts is nude still better for that?
There does appear to be a couple of really pale sports bras in sports direct that shouldn't show through too much so I will.pop in and get those tried on. I'm gonna take it that they won't be bad developmentally to wear? I didn't jeed a bra til I was 16 and even then it was an AA cup and my parents never allowed crop tops so this part is all new to me Grin

She's not the right size for the m&s range they start at at 28 or 30 back she's only 11 so not that size yet. But thank you Smile she currently wears the m&s while seamless racer back style c. Top.

flissy

Those first ones might just be the answer...they look kind of thicker!

They'll be fine. I think wires are more likely to cause issues. It's not like she's binding them, just supporting them and keeping them protected, which will be ideal in PE. The ones my DD has are more structured and padded than the ones in the link, but at 11 she already needs them to be, poor bugger.

linky

Gileswithachainsaw · 19/08/2018 19:48

If all I have to do is avoid wires then that's a relief

Thank you . Was worried about making sure I didn't harm development in any way.

I will definately take her to try some on then try and order the suitable colours online.
