Hello everybody, Im new to this but I'm hoping that anybody out there can give advice and reassurance. I'm married and have two boys. One 10 and the other 13. Apart from the usual hormonal changes we are noticing from our 6ft 1" size 11 shoe son ( together with oversized attitude!) His top lip hair is becoming very noticeable. He is a very sensitive soul and I suppose I would like to pre-empt any concerns about leg pulling at school. Also, blackheads!!! Aarrgh I've bought several washes and witch hazel but the problem is his hygiene! How do you get him to wash ? Please please any help or reassurance would be really grateful. Blush

You have to get tough.

This is completely unacceptable.

Yes get them where it hurts.

Remove WiFi, Xbox, PlayStation, football matches.

Whatever they love, you remove.

Basic standards of hygiene.....

Every day teeth must be brushed.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday they must have showers.

End of.

Get tough. It will get worse.

It can be wearing yes, but yiu have to do it. I agree with the previous posters who have said ignore the hygiene for now and concentrate on the behaviour and definitely don’t “shout and fight” as you need to be role modelling good behaviour.

Can I recommend a book for you and your DH? Try Divas and Doorslammers.

Can I ask how your DH is reacting to the aggressive behaviour?

My son has very noticeable blackheads until he started washing his face with freederm whilst in the shower, the sensitive one. Within a very short time they have disappeared.

I have DDs 17 and 14. I don't know about the male hygiene issue as my girls are never out of the shower but with regard to respect, just don't let it pass. Try not to rise up but absolutely call them out on every instance. It's exhausting, they will eye roll and groan and worse but that's what they do. Try reading "Get out of my life but first give me and Alex a lift into town."
