Bedwetting DD8

Hi-I posted in parenting and health but no response.Disheartened 8 year old DD who bedwets at least once a night. We have been discharged from the enurisis clinic as her desmo melts initially worked. Now they don't and it's a 6 month waiting list to be seen again.
Any advice? She bladder trained for a year before we tried desmo melts...drinks 1ltr of water a day, stops at 6pm,desmo at 7pm ,bed and last wee at 8pm.Still wet.
We had little success with the NHS alarm pre desmo as it didn't wake her up.She is such a deep sleeper.Looking at the Rogers alarm wireless pants- anyone have any experience?Or just some reassurance that this will stop one day ?I know 8 is still young but she is so despondent and fed up.

Not sure you will get much advice on the Preteens board, you could try Child health. Presumably you know about the ERIC site: www.eric.org.uk

Good luck with finding a solution.

Just seen that you tried other boards, such a pity that AIBU is so popular and people that need advice don't get any Sad

We got "Stop bedwetting in 7 days" by Alicia Eaton. I won't say it has worked in 7 days for us but it has reduced the wet nights considerably. Worth a go while you wait to be seen at least. We thought we'd cracked it at one point but he's relapsed a bit. He's 8 and also very deep sleeper. He could be soaking wet and sleep on for another couple of hours.

Hi, the dry easy alarm worked for our 6.5yr old heavy sleeper (can buy from Amazon). It actually worked in 4 days, after him never having had a dry night.

We did combine it with taking him to the toilet at 11pm, we couldn't believe how fast it worked.

Good luck, you will hit on something that works for your DD Flowers

We had a similar experience to moltenpink . Used a Malem wireless alarm and lifted at 11pm regardless on our DS(7).

At first he never woke as he is such a deep sleeper, but we did as suggested and had one of us sleeping next to him so just woke him and made him go to the toilet and changed him if needed. After the first few nights, he started to wake by himself and after a week he's never been wet again.

If you wanted to try it, PM me and I'll pop it in the post to you

Thanks for the advice, we have a deep sleeper too so I am reading carefully.

Thanks for the replies.Cabawill it was a malem we used but it didn't wake her but thank you so much for the offer.I haven't been lifting her as the clinic told us not to but I think I will start doing it ..making sure she wakes up.Now she is older it might work. She was dry last night...first time in weeks.Kinglooie I'll Google the book. Many thanks all.

Moltenpink is the dry easy alarm very loud?Don't really want to squeeze in with DD to wake her when an alarm goes off .She's still in an ikea kids bed and it is tiny.Mind you the Malem sounded like a fog horn going off and she still slept through it.Will have a look at it.

We slept on the floor next to him not in bed with him IYSWIM? He never even flinched to start with when the alarm was going off. Had to shake him and start helping him up. 4 times on the first night we had to get up and get him changed so if you do try it make sure you have lots of spare PJ's. Was so worth those 2 weeks of broken sleep though.

Thanks Cabawill...now thinking we gave up on the alarm too soon. Will definitely give it another go after reading your post.

Following as have a 7.5 yr old who isn't dry in the night. Have been seeing gp for 9 months who has prescribed Desmo melts. They get us to 4-5 am before she wets simply because they wear off I think. We have Euresis clinic appt coming up in Oct but don't know what else they will do differently.

I'm surprised you were discharged whilst on the tabs, I thought the aim would be to get your dc tablet free.

We have tried the alarm mat but doesn't work. The pants alarm never went off for yes as could never get it in the right position.
