My 12 year old son is always angry and moody

Hi there everyone, first time I've used anything like this.

My son is 12 years old, he lives full time with him non who's is poorly a lot, but I have him a lot (I'm his dad) anyway for a while now he's always getting into trouble at school, being silly starting fights etc. But he's always angry, he cannot take any criticism at all and has mood swings on a daily basis and is always throwing things in temper and his response to everything is "I don't care" is this normal or does anyone think he could have some behavioural problems or issues? Please help. Thanks

Didn't want to read and run, but I think behavioural problems are common at this age, especially in boys, I think testosterone has a lot to answer for. Teaching him ways to deal with his feelings, is a good way to start. I'm sure school will deal with the fighting appropriately, but you need to deal with his issues at home too. Luckily it doesn't last forever :-)

Similar issues here with 12 year old boy. School work dropped dramatically and up to 3 weeks behind homework with some subjects at secondary 1st year.

Shouting and swearing is ruining family life. How long til a neighbour complains at the noise for hours at a time.

Advice or strategies on how to be more positive with your child? My 12 year old son is a recently diagnosed dyslexic and has problems with his social interactions - this has caused problems at school and at home. Consequently i often feel quite resentful towards him. I know this is wrong and i know my tone and things I say can be negative. I know this is not helping him and despite waking up every morning with the intention of being positive and upbeat with him I soon find myself slipping back into negativity. I would really appreciate any suggestions or advice on how to turn this around.
