When do I take Ds for her first bra fitting and where should I go?

She is 11 and has slight curve in the breast area- no bouncing or nipple showing when it's cold.

I was going to go to Debenhams as M&S is considered rubbish.

Ms and s was brilliant for my Dd at 11 she was a 28 dd. Nowhere else stocked the size and recommended she wore a 30 c, which rubbed under her arms horribly. Wish I had stuck with m and s. M and S here have a real broad range of sizes.

I measure dd at home and then go to store (new look,m&s,debenhams etc) and try on sizes around it eg if she was 30c I'd try 30b 32a 30c 28d and so on

Primark and New Look do "cool" ones - good for when they want a bra but don't need one yet!

yes to primark and matalan...although I may be out of date since dd does her own shopping these days

yes they have a lot of lurid frou frou burlesque stylee nonsense, but there always used to be a backbone of nice soft cotton brief/bra sets or tshirt bra efforts, pretty colours and patterns with lots of teen appeal, and often in 28 fitting too. Nice boy shorts too.

I have very recently doen this with my dd who measured a tiny 26b at home. She didn't want to be measured in a shop, but we had a lovely day going round all the shops trying everything on (and eating cake). we were looking for plain white and black bras with no frills, lace or padding. neither did she want the 'hard cup' bras.

We found these in Debenhams and a 30aa fitted her perfectly. I bought 4 sets so she ended up with 2 white, 2 pink, 2 grey an 2 black.

She sounds about as developed as your dd, so these are really practice bras. I've told her that we'll get her measured properly next time and I'd go to John Lewis for that as I overheard them sort first bras out for a young girl recently and they were lovely with her.

I think Dd will definitely prefer measuring at home rather than by a shop assistant so will definitely do that.

The best place to get measured is probably Victoria secret as the staff are really friendly and they make you feel really calm and not embarrassed and they let you try on bras they think fit so try find the perfect size cause there's nothing worse that a uncomfortable bra haha

Mine was handed some on from a friend whose daughter outgrew them pretty much straight away. They're from Debenhams and are soft cotton, in fact they found very similar to those described by gautami above. Very comfy for her and not too big a leap from just cropped vests.

Went to Debenhams. I wouldn't trust myself to measure her properly .. £14 for a pair. Pretty and quite plain. Sales assistant asked if she'd like to try on a padded version.?.?.?.?😳

I wouldn't buy my bras from M&S but DD's have come from there. No measuring, we just grabbed a few likely candidates and took them in the changing room. Don't know if it's standard, but our local branch has an outer changing room and an inner one in each cubicle, so DD could have some privacy while wrestling herself into a bra, then come out and show me. I got her permission to prod her a bit to make sure everything was in the right place, established what was comfy, job done.

Weirdly, in tiny sizes at least, M&S appear to still do the 'add 5"' thing - DD's bras are a 28 band and mine 32, but there is considerably more than 4" between our actual rib cage measurements!

Victoria's Secret and m&s both add inches so neither will fit well

We go to John Lewis. Dd started off as 26C but had to wear 28 B as nowhere did 26 band.

She's niw a 28 D & M & S/debenhams etc just don't dont do that size. They try & stick her in a 32 A which is rubbish.

Best to use independent bra shop or measure at home. Bravissimo will help even if out of size range

DontCallMeBaby The quality control of M&S bras can be very poor. Previous posters have found 30 band bras that barely stretch to 27". They still do the add 4/5" to your under bust measurement. So if your DD measures 28 they'd try her in a 32"!

Heartshapedbox12 Nope, sorry, Victoria's Secrets are one of the worst culprits for bad measuring. They use a bizarre method which involves measuring under your armpits and across the top of your chest.

Do they do pull on T shirt Bras? My DD likes the crop vests and would prefer a pull on Bra variety to the one with the hooks. Any suggestions?

Probably posting too late but I've found Next's bra selection really good for my 12 year old dd.

Was able to order a good selection in different sizes and try them on at home in relaxed fashion.
