So DS is ten, according to him all his school friends watched 'I'm a celebrity' last night and it's the best programme ever, (ahem) DS is the only person not allowed to watch it, it's not fair, etc etc. He feels left out & I feel like an out of touch mum. Does anyone allow their ten yo to watch it? Is it suitable or not?

This is interesting because that's how I always felt as a child but I haven't had this complaint from my DC, at all (now 11 & 13). I thought that because of the numerous channels, other entertainment gadgets and catch up TV etc they're not all watching the same thing at the same time anymore, so you don't get the "did you see Eastenders?" at school next day in the same way as we did IYSWIM.

However, for the first time ever DS2 came home talking about a TV programme tonight and is now watching I'm a Celeb

I do let him watch it (not sure exactly what your concerns are, language? Time?) anyway it's on too late so it's sky + and he watches it the next day.

It's repeated early evening w with t he ruder bits cut out if that's any good?

Thanks, I'll let him watch the censored earlier version then, it was the late time/ swearing/ showering in white bikinis with accompanying Ant n Dec sexual innuendo I was concerned about. I don't want to wrap him up in cotton wool though, life's tough for 10yo boys

I let my DS (8) watch the version at 6 on ITV 2. Wouldn't let him watch the full version though, not sure it's appropriate for a ten year old and it's usually on pretty late!

I let my 8 and10 yr old watch. Not 'live' as too late but they normally pick it up the next day. To be honest I think most of it is acceptable there is not a lot of swearing and what is is bleeped out I believe a lot of the innuendo goes over their heads so I dont find that a concern. My 2 seem to enjoy watching the friendships form and they love the trials and challenges. I feel it is one of the better reality programmes entertaining and easy to watch.

My sister's 9 year old loves it. She records it when it's on and he watches it when he gets in from school the next day.
