I need advice re ds birthday would going to see Paddington the movie be regarded as uncool by that age group?? its aimed at all ages but he's just started at a new school and I don't want to do wrong thing!!!

i would go for bowling-its completely painless for you as you can sit with a coffee and watch then feed them a burger and chips then wave them all goodbye

Take him on his own to that one - it's too young for senior school.
I'd go for something like for a pizza party with a star wars dvd (at home) or bowling - nice number 6 or 12 meet there. Or a couple of friends for a games night or sleepover yes. Depends on how outgoing he is.

I think the cinema is quite a tricky thing for a party. When they are little there are toilets and being scared to worry about the. When they are older there is people not being the right age to see things and whether they have seen things before to worry about. Then there is the judgement call over the film being appropriate.

A 'doing' party is more memorable for your own child as a party.

Roller or ice skating
Climbing wall
Laser quest
Trampolines

Mine had sleepover party with 3 friends (just mucking about with nerf guns, watched Diary of a Wimpy kid, and ate lots of pizza and popcorn).

I think Paddington a bit twee for this age?
