how much allowance /pocket money 11 yr old

How much pocket money does your 11 year old get? We're thinking of an allowance that she then buys her own stuff out of (excluding school uniform/subs for clubs) Does anyone else do this? How much? does it work? can they earn extra ? do you deduct for bad behaviour?

I got my family allowance at this age though god only knows what the equivalent cost of that was these days...

My 10yr old gets £3 per week to send on frivolities.

My 15y old started with monthly payments around the time she went to secondary, started at £15, now £25. But she doesn't pay for clothes from this (or much else). Pays for phone, and bits of entertainment. Doesn't pay for school meals, clothes, subs etc.

I think 11 is (far) too young to be budgeting for clothes.

At 11 she could

• pay for xmas / b-day presents
• pay for entertainment when out without you (does that happen yet?)
• pay for PAYG phone
• pay for fripperies (mgazines, hairbands, smelly things, CDs)

If she can do that you could then up the amount to include some other stuff.

My dd is 11, Year 7.

She gets £10 per month paid directly into her Lloyds account, she has a debit/cashpoint card with the account.

We also pay for her phone and school/toiletry essentials.

Ddog's (just turned 12) gets £5 per week paid into her account and she has a cash card so she can access her money

She's expected to pay for small presents, bits and pieces for riding, books, accessories etc but not clothes, bigger stuff, phone etc

Dear stepdaughter is 12 and gets 25 pounds a month. This isn't to cover clothes, extra curricular activities etc. She generally buys magazines and kindle books as well as costume jewellery and hair accessories.

DD 11 gets £10 a week, she spends it as she chooses
It gets handed to her Friday, usually gone by Saturday
So she swindles a pound for the shops on the way to school
So really its £15

£5 per week but he h as set jobs to do to earn this.
(On top of expected jobs for no pay)

If he misses these.things or I have to nag, he gets nowt.

I'm harsh apparently.

Once in secondary school, mine got the same amount of £ per month, as their age - so £11 a month at aged 11.
Yes it worked.
No they don't generally earn extra.
No we don't relate it to chores or behaviour or anything.

Ds 12y gets £12 per month
Ds 9y gets £9 per month

Extra for jobs
Extra for teeth!!

£5 per week, yes they can earn more in return for doing a job but it's not related to behaviour. We pay for their phones, clothes, essentials. My 13 and 15 year olds get the same.
