Hey. My 11 year old son has a party invite from a girl at school. We don't know her or the parents, it is 10 miles away and goes on till 11pm. I have said no. He is livid. What do others think?

It is not I mind him having a late night. More the house party side with people I do not know, in fact I don't know any of the other invitees. He has never mentioned the girl who is hosting. I was not expecting house party invites until end of year 8.

TBH I would say yes. My parents always said no and by yr8 I was lying to them and going anyway.

Does he have an actual PAPER invite, or an invite through Facebook/Instagram?

I would say I was staying at my friends house and she at mine. But tbh they were massively over-protective and controlling against which I hugely rebelled and within a couple of years I was off doing what I liked and they couldn't stop me. I shudder at the situations I got myself into. Now my ds is 12 I try to allow him freedom whilst setting some boundaries, so, in this instance I would let him go but insist on taking nd collecting him (poss earlier than 11pm) and having contact details for parents etc
