Preteens
dark knickers for a 9 year old
SURRYMUMMY · 22/02/2012 20:24
My daughter is having very slight blood loss. The GP has said its all fine and may become early periods or may just go away... In the meantime I don't want to give her panty-liners which will draw attetnion to her at school. She's big for her age (size of a 12 year old) but I can't seem to find navy or black knickers anywhere. Can anyone please help?

You could always Dylon a couple of packs of basic white pants navy.
MarshmallowFarm · 22/02/2012 20:35
you could try multipacks of ladies' bikini briefs from M and S in black in a size 6 or 8? Or from somewhere like New Look or Topshp where ladies' sizes tend to be pretty small anyway?

Size 8 knickers from sainburys - we got value ones.
However please get her some teen pads or panty liners. I appreciate your worries re " drawing attention" but the likelihood is she is starting her periods and the worst thing that could happen is she'd end up sat in a puddle at school.

Yes, it's important that she has some sanitary protection with her at school. I had to ask a teacher for help when I started mine at school and it was mortifying.
Please mark this milestone on her way womanhood with her in some small way, maybe a little lunch out a wee bracelet, something. Tell her you're proud of her!

the really small liners for thong-style knickers are invisible in normal pants.

www.childrensalon.com/girl/underwear/girls-bikini-briefs-3-pack.html there are also some in purple.
Petit bateau do black pants too, their age 12 is for a 10-12 year old.

Gap has a mixed pack of black and white pants for girls at the moment. Go up to size 13. Hope you get it sorted.

M & S shorts style knickers.
I agree with other posters who said to provide her with pads too.

if it's only a small amount you can get really thin (and unnoticeable!) pantyliners and as the other posters said she wouldn't need to change it at school

i know this is an older thread but i have bought my very slight 9 yr old dd black pants in Primark, size 8-10. Pack of 4 for £2.50. they are great. My dd started her periods two months ago.

Just a word of warning though; if the bleeding becomes a period, she may not want to wear such dark pants incase she leaks, but can't tell because the pants are black - if that makes sense? If she doesn't realize, it could cause a horrible and embarrassing situation for your DD.

DD1 hid a sanitary towel and a couple of panty liners in a old pencil case, still does now she defiantly needs them.
Nosey friends expect school bags to contain pencil cases, on plastic bags, tins and makeup bags might cause questions.

How about adult knickers as someone suggested (bizarrely, age 12 knickers in Marks are a lot bigger than an adult size 8 or 10 in marks!) and a panty liner as well...which won't be see in dark knickers and won't therefore draw attention. I think she would perhaps feel more self conscious with no protection as blood loss, however small, can have a smell and she would be conscious of this x
